Image of the 1297 magna carta. Parchment document with wax seal at the bottom attached with string.
After a settlement was agreed between King John and rebel leaders, copies of the Magna Carta were issued #OTD in 1215.
We have one of the best copies of the Magna Carta. Issued in 1297 by Edward I, it confirms the City of London's ancient liberties and customs.
