Walked away from my PC and it went to sleep, came back and half of the programs I had open are now closed. Not even all of them, just about half of them

Going to try and post more frequently on here again.

I've been pretty busy and hadn't found time to step out of my social comfort zone. I've also had a very rough year for personal reasons, especially around personal interactions and friendships.

So let's try again.

It could be completely true and I’d never know.

I just do not wish to be the person mining towards diamonds that don’t actually exist because I have genuinely never had a good experience with the Discover feed

Whenever I read a post saying they’ve finally fixed the “Show Less” option on the Discover feed or anything else that sounds promising I immediately get the image in my head of the man mining towards diamonds

I'll continue drawing some stuff for now, but I can say that I see the writing on the wall and that's why I made this thread now.

All good things will come to an end someday. There's lessons that could be learned from all this but I'm not optimistic that they would stick in any way. Oh well.

People have been adding on their own small pixel characters, some people recognize the game and add on art that is from the game, while others don't and are adding on their own creations in a similar style which is super neat. Aside from the 18 classes, I've added a "wind flower" (a cosmetic skin for the Ninja class, which is a girl wearing a bandana and kimono and supposedly a reference to the character Hana from Fire Emblem). To the right of the 18 classes is a sprite of Oryx the Mad God in his Exalted form, Craig the Intern of the Mad God, and then the four minibosses of Oryx's Sanctuary: Dammah, Gemsbok, Leucoryx, and Beisa.

Lastly so far, I drew the RotMG characters here. It's interesting to see random people stumble across it and draw their own little characters, whether they recognize the game it's from or not.

I drew all 18 classes, Oryx, Craig, the O3 minibosses, and the wind flower.

Screenshot of the browser game wplace. We're looking at Angel Island, an island in real life that's to the north of San Francisco. It's completely surrounded with Sonic the Hedgehog-related art in all sorts of styles.

I drew a Knuckles here all on his lonesome much earlier on. There was barely any art on Angel Island at the time and definitely no Sonic art.

It looks like I had started a trend and now this island is completely covered in Sonic-related art.

The one I drew is the Advance sprite.

The little ball here is mine, I had the idea of drawing some of the more obscure Deltarune characters but then I realized there is probably not a single character that doesn't already exist somewhere on the map lol.

The vast majority of this art isn't mine, and I guess the current iteration of it probably isn't really mine, but I did originally start on the Millenium Line here.

No one had been working on it when I first started on it, but now people have picked it up and it's looking a lot cooler.

An update on the Moss. People seem to like it. I wasn't the one who added the Kris, or the eggs, or the exclamation marks.

I also probably should have started this thread before the map started becoming so chaotic, and before the map rendering started failing. Oh well.

The art surrounding the area is extremely chaotic because of how many people have discovered this site. Also someone has written the words "Proceed" with an arrow pointing towards Noelle. Someone has also written the word "Thorn" above the arrow.

I should probably share the stuff I've drawn on wplace up to this point

First off, Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Noelle from previous posts. They're still doing alright. I wasn't the one who drew any of the other characters nearby.

Also, poor Noelle.

Screenshot of my phone’s lock screen currently, normally it will show the album art for the song currently playing. For unknown reasons either youtube music or iOS has decided to not load the album art. This makes the lock screen look incredibly depressing as it is now roughly a dark brown with a giant empty dark square in the middle of it. It’s so real for that. (song being played is: laundry day - Cavetown)

First thing I see opening wplace up today. Evil and ominous red dot

Moss update, perhaps tomorrow I fix up the text so that it's closer to the Deltarune font. I don't have enough to overhaul it right now.

People are now adding Lancer, Nubert, and Rouxls Kaard to this area. That's beautiful

(bonus: there is a bunch of Deltarune art here because the name of this municipality is... Delta)
(bonus 2: where I've placed the moss is on top of one of the largest bogs in North America. The moss is in its element and flourishing.)

The Moss from the earlier screenshot is supposed to nestle up against the corner of the green part of the map, but unfortunately when zooming out, the border doesn't quite match up. Probably because those are two completely different categories in OpenStreetMap or something.

Unfortunately it looks a bit odd when zooming out enough. But if I moved it to the right, then it would look odd when zooming in.

Taking care of moss is more difficult than I thought.

Screenshot from the browser game wplace. This game is similar to r/place where there is a canvas everyone can place pixels on, except on top of a world map. I have recreated the battle sprites of Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Noelle from the video game Deltarune with the help of random other people. The rest of the art in the screenshot isn't mine. The location of the art on the map is left as an exercise to the reader (the exercise: looking up "brooks island regional preserve" present in the top-middle of the screenshot)

I've been chipping away at this on wplace for the past couple of days.

It's kind of a nice "idle game" while I'm doing other things. Go do actual work, come back to a few more pixels I can place, repeat.

GDQ is a nice reminder that you don't need to placate bigots in your space. You can just push them out and tell them they're not welcome, and it won't stop you being successful. You might lose some folk, but you'll lose even more by rolling out the red carpet for people who make others feel unsafe.

I haven't been home for longer than a week for the past month or so. I've been super busy IRL.
It hasn't been a bad experience at all, but at the same time definitely looking forward to things settling down a bit more in August.
