My latest novel is up to ~43k words (of 80-90). Something incredible about that halfway point when everything is clicking and pieces are coming together (hopefully) for future readers. I'm so glad I found this hobby. It's like making magic.

I definitely have the basics planned out, but I'm really putting pieces in at different places and moving around as I go. I've tried both "gardener" and "architect" style but have found I write best somewhere in the middle.

Pleased to announce I am absolutely cooking with my novel. A month off to travel and write report cards left a brain (and doc) loaded with ideas that came out quickly on the page. Over 3k words in two sessions, and I'll revisit tonight to add more.

I haven't worked on my book since December 23rd, but I can finally get back to it since I finished report cards!

Vacation and I wrote a short story in the meantime, but I've been itching to get back to it. First step: reread back a few chapters and check my planner

Do we need to stay? I'm all for some serious science and just pushing to whatever next is a-ok for me, but is there really a lot to do there that's "better" than the ISS? I guess I should read about this. Not really sure what's gained by staying there vs robots doing our grunt work instead

Sometimes I wake up at night and record ideas into my watch. Less often, I can actually understand what I'm saying. Even less often, it's a good idea.

I just chuck it all in a Google drive folder automatically. Comes in handy sometimes when I get some spare time at work or whatever at well

Read what you enjoy. I read a bunch of grade 5 books with students and enjoyed them all.

Wrote a couple of my own too over the past few years. It's fun because the kids don't whine about tropes or get obsessed with precise laws of science and stuff. They just want characters they care about.
