Just in time for the holidays, here are ADN reviewers’ favorite books of 2025
Top selections by Nancy Lord and David James include poetry, works of fiction, adventure stories, a Pulitzer-winning memoir and multiple books that interrogate the changing nature of the North.
"She takes the award for best new Alaskan voice of 2025." So deems David James about @rickirobin.bsky.social, whose new book, GHOSTS OF DISTANT TREES, is included in the @adn.com reviewers' favorite books of 2025 list. She and John Messick are signing books today at Title Wave in Anchorage, 3:30-6!

Genuinely so excited to screen Shaped by Land alongside @princessdaazhraii.bsky.social’s Two Old Women on Saturday. This film block is going to be so special! Still so honored to be included. Sold out about a week ago, but I hope to see some of you there!

Left: Daily sea ice extent in the Bering Sea each season 1978-79 to 2024-25 with the past two seasons, 2017-18 (the lowest on record) and the smoothed 1991-2020 median highlighted. Right: NWS Alaska region sea ice concentration analysis to February 15, 2025.
Bering Sea #SeaIce extent has fallen 30 percent since the start of February and is now the 2nd lowest for this point in the season in the past 47 years of NSIDC data. The only lower season, 2017-18, showed that this will impact the Bering Sea ecosystem and people's lives/livelihoods. #Arctic #akwx

I'm not sure yet if this site has the same community of #freelance writers eager to hear a #callforpitches as the other side, but let's see if we can't find out.
