Iconic Artist Jim Lee Takes Firm Anti-AI Stance at DC Comics

Jim Lee promises that DC will never use AI, saying "AI doesn't dream, feel, or make art."

But oh well, some lucky person(s) have my old much-read, much-loved softcover collections, somewhere out there, and they are hopefully bringing joy to a new generation. I'm happy I at least still have this big hardcover collection, so I can still read them!

I plan to read Calvin & Hobbes to my son when he's a little older. I had no idea in my mid-20s that I'd ever have a kid, much less how powerful nostalgia would become with age. It'd have been a bit easier to read those lightweight softcovers to him, and then pass them along to him.

My parents gave me this for Xmas when it came out. Not long after that, I sold all my old original softcover C&H books to Half Price Books. Little did I know then that I'd grow to regret selling them because they were the ones I read as a kid, and thus, pretty special.

Blade Runner is my favorite movie. I encourage you to give it a chance someday!

(Titanic and Forrest Gump are the two big movies I never saw.)

I never saw it because I was a contrarian teenager. If something was really popular, I’d avoid it. I avoided Decaprio movies for the same reason. Nowadays I like his acting a lot, so I’m kind of curious to finally see it. (Also still haven’t seen Forrest Gump either!)

This might be a product of my ADHD, but I prefer to call it whimsy :-)

This is silly, but do any of you ever get a little "victory fanfare" in your head when you make a real-life accomplishment or stroke of luck? I know that I get the Final Fantasy VI battle victory fanfare in my head sometimes at these moments. (Sonic 3 stage complete music too sometimes!)

But yeah, in closing, I'm still very early on and there are a lot of favorite foods I can't eat for a long time, and some I can never have, but I already feel like I can say I don't regret the operation and feel pretty good about it. I've been lucky so far, and I hope it keeps up!

The only real thing that's been bothering me is that I've had some numbness and occasional pain in my hands, especially my left one. The first time I tried typing, I was all fumble-fingers. Doing a bit better now. This is not common for gastric bypass. Doc says to keep an eye on it and call back.

I need to get more protein in though. The protein shakes haven't been as pleasant post-op. No nausea, but they just feel heavy. I've been getting protein from bone broth soup, Greek yogurt and eggs though. Better drink a shake tomorrow though just to be safe! I can feel some reduced muscle strength.

I'm cleared to eat a little more variety now. Still liquids, but now mushy / pureed / soft stuff is ok. I fell in love with ricotta cheese. Ate eggs and tofu (w soy sauce) for the first time in 3 weeks, and it was awesome. Been really enjoying zero sugar pudding cups.

I'm almost superstitious about saying this, but ten days out, recovery been going surprisingly smooth! Mostly just occasional fatigue, and not too much pain. What blows my mind though is that I'm already down a shirt size! There will be plateaus, for sure, but this gave me a big boost of hope.

Heck yeah. I just saw it tonight too! Looked so beautiful on the big screen.

So nice to see Panorama Island back in print again. That was the second manga I ever lettered, 15-ish years ago.
I was still learning proper lettering at the time so please hang in there with that, but enjoy a tome of absolutely beautiful Maruo art and a very intriguing story!

Just wish I could afford to buy more manga! Most of the stuff I want most is all $30-50 per volume because it’s fancy hardcovers and omnibuses. I have the same problem with blu rays. I have so many movies and the remaining stuff I want is all Criterion, Arrow, other boutique label stuff.

Dropped by the bookstore and spent some time browsing manga. Feels nice to look through all these books and say to myself “hey my friend translated that!” Or “hey my friend lettered that one!” There are some very talented people on our field.

I got cleared for driving, so I went to see “One Battle After Another” tonight. No spoilers, but there were three people credited as “snake wranglers” in the credits, but I didn’t see a single snake in the movie, hehe. 🐍
