WHY? On July 2025, Steam, a popular storefront to purchase games on PC, and itch.io, a storefront that sells games, comics, tools, resources and much more, have recently delisted several NSFW games, after the group Collective Shout published an open letter to payment processors such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and more. As a result of this letter, payment processors have strongarmed Valve and itch.io into enforcing restrictive new TOS policies on what kind of content their platforms can host and sell. Visa, Mastercard, Stripe and Paypal have been censoring free speech and legal business on the internet for TOO LONG. Their most recent targets are Steam and Itch.io, but they have also been pressuring websites like Pixiv, Patreon, Fansly, Onlyfans and MORE for years, applying draconian standards for what kind of adult/pornographic content platiorms and their users can host and sell. If we as consumers and creators want to regain ground on this issue, we have to make our voice heard. HOW? BOMBARD THEM WITH PHONE CALLS Collective Shout, the organization that lobbied to have Steam and Itch.io change their TOS, did so with only around 1000 phone calls. Visa and MC have backed down from pressuring Onlyians to remove adult content entirely due to public backlash. Clogging their phone lines for an extended perlou, over a mont at the absolute least, will almost gudrantee that these compantes will at least have to pay attention to the backlash. this list is not exhaustive. but some contact points for the 4 targets are: 1. And, tangentially— I was explaining O&FC to a friend, and explaining how it wasn’t actually depressing or nihilistic, that it was actually a weirdly hopeful larp in a lot of ways, about healing and reparative experiences even though it could be about other things— which surprised me.

(Learned recently that in my VERY FIRST year of public school - 4th grade (homeschooled before)… the school staff told my parents I probably had ADHD. How obvious WAS it?! An over-compliant quiet bookworm “girl” in 1990s rural Texas?? Yet parents disbelieved; didn’t tell me til after my adult dx)

Same. Didn’t get diagnosed or medicated til after getting my masters degree *and* post grad license. Grad school was at least easier than undergrad because no general education requirements / it was all interesting to me, but still. Meds would have been so helpful.

Ughhhh. Yeah the incompetence and lack of understanding is *even worse* with autism. This is also why I say “find someone specializing in autistic/adhd ADULTS” because … it looks different damnit @_@ coping/masking/etc! but even those professionals sometimes still do stuff like what you mentioned.

mood. I also mostly stopped using Facebook (because no thanks, Meta) but now I feel so out of the loop on so many things. ah well, I don't actually miss it.

It infuriates me SO MUCH *every time.* Personal frustration and professional indignation. It's called *knowing your scope of competence,* it's emphasized so much in ethics, you're not supposed to operate outside your competency, and yet so many people just. Ignore that part after school??? aaaaaa

(My grad experience is psychotherapist/counseling psychology; still mostly applies to psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers.)

(Different focuses. Therapist = counseling, psychiatrist = medication, psychologist = assessment/research, social worker = social systems. More on that later, maybe)

(Yes, this also means there's a huge lack of competency around autism unless they've actually had additional training/life experience/etc. And most other conditions. It's why continuing education requirements exist, and post-grad trainings. Make sure your therapist has the specialties you need.)

We didn't really cover it in grad school (2012-2015). One class session on the developmental disorders section of the DSM during Assessment & Diagnosis class. Brief look at the diagnostic criteria - that's it. Not enough for competency. Have to seek out additional/specialized education to know more.

Nearly a decade later, after hearing so many horror stories, I'm increasingly starting to agree with her. Won't quite say you *have* to have ADHD to effectively treat it... but it sure does seem to *help.* And I will say that if someone doesn't *specialize* in ADHD, they likely don't have a clue.

I was diagnosed post-grad-school, early in my therapist career. The (now retired) therapist who diagnosed me once said that she kind of thought people who didn't have ADHD could effectively treat it. I laughed it off, thinking she was being hyperbolic, exaggerating.

PSA: If a mental health professional says you can't possibly have ADHD because you're "too smart" or "your grades are too good" or "you made it through college" – fire them, they don't know ADHD. I'm so tired of *still* hearing this b.s. in 2025.

It’s a really interesting talk that describes the perspective of the stage performer and I was fascinated how it was still different from the street performer perspective.

But the improv theater training I got in renfaire street cast rehearsals two decades ago has continuously been the most helpful thing for my larping. I go back to my old renfaire rehearsal handouts when doing character development even now.

And then I realized that I haven’t heard or seen *any* discussion of street theatre with regards to larp. No mentions of Gary Izzo’s “Art of Play” (early interactive theater manual, the one my renfaire used back in the 2000’s; was re-released with an updated edition in 2022). Maybe I’ve missed it?

Like I’m listening to this talk and going “so many of these restrictions and notes… don’t apply to the renfaire street theater I used to do.” Patron interactions were core to renfaire street cast. And patrons could really get involved in character interactions.

I’m working my way through so many videos of larp talks/presentations, and keep running across comparisons between immersive experiences and larp. But where does something like renfaire street theater fall?

Had way too much fun looking for the most suggestive fruit images in Canva’s database that I could find. (May be procrastinating on less interesting/higher mental load tasks by playing around in Canva. But it’s still leading to materials getting done, so… >_> )

I also had the thought of adding condiments, spices, etc (honey, cinnamon, and so on) as options, but I think that places too much emphasis on the mechanic for this larp’s focus, distracts too much. Would be great for a Kushiel’s Dart / Terre d’Ange game though.

Gonna playtest the workshop for this larp intimacy mechanic in a couple weeks. Needed something that would fit the aesthetic, theme, mood, etc for an Arthurian larp, so I modified an old SCA tradition and fused it with a variant of the Taste of Intimacy meta-technique.
