Washington farmworker who led union efforts talks life after ICE detention, returning to Mexico Alfredo Juarez Zeferino, who came to the U.S. when he was 8, has been back in Guerrero for more than a month now after deciding to end his deportation fight.

"While he adjusts to this new life, working the land and exploring his new old home, he’s still pursuing a legal path to come back to the U.S. And he’s still organizing for Washington farmworkers — just from a few thousand miles away this time."

The attack on Lelo coincides with an expansion of the exploitative H2A program. Similarly, the DOC-ICE pipeline disproportionately impacts immigrants & refugees like Tek who are often survivors of the school to prison pipeline.

Juarez was violently detained in March. He is an internationally recognized farmworker, immigrant rights organizer, as well as one of the founders of the farmworker union FUJ.

We believe that he was targeted because of his role as a vocal advocate for the labor rights of indigenous farmworkers.
