7 Waxwings over Old Craigie Road, Dundee (heading NW) at dusk on Sunday 30/11/25.

Quite a few in Eastern Cemetery recently along with Mistle Thrushes and the odd Fieldfare and Song Thrush.
29.11.2025 23:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Redwing, Siskin, Meadow Pipit and Goldcrest at Riverside Nature Park, Dundee today. No sign of yesterday's Greenland White-fronted Goose, but an unexpected Snow Bunting was a pleasant surprise and new for my 2025Dundee150 list (no pics unfortunately).

Possibly, but there have been sporadic sightings for at least 10 years within the city. I remember hearing of 3 (or 4) at Gardyne College some years ago but can't find details of the actual record. Comments on Facebook suggest they are still at Gardyne College & sightings in Barnhill (same birds?).

They are smaller than most folk expect them to be.
23.11.2025 21:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Decent (albeit brief) views of the City Quay, Dundee Kingfisher at last!

There was one seemingly lost in Douglas in 2024. Another from Kirriemuir in recent weeks but it appears to be a male. Might try to find out more about the apparent Dundee population size.
23.11.2025 17:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They are also seen in Barnhill apparently. Has the aviary lost any birds?
23.11.2025 14:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Checked missing pets page on FB first. Gonna keep trying to add something else so I get 150 even if the Parakeet isnβt counted.
23.11.2025 09:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0By sounds of things they are already here - though numbers are still low. I remember a report of 3 or 4 at Gardyne College from probably 6 or 7 years ago but nothing after that, until researching todayβs sighting, where I found FB comment saying there are βsomeβ still there (& Barnhill). Same birds?
22.11.2025 20:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My 150th species from within Dundee this year - a surprise find in Eastern Cemetery this morning on my way out to Broughty Ferry and Balmossie - a Ring-necked Parakeet. It turns out there are 'some' of these birds present in grounds of Gardyne College (0.5miles from EC).

Red-throated Diver off Beach Crescent, Broughty Ferry this morning. Took my 2025Dundee150 list to 149 with a Long-tailed Duck a bit later. Also had a possible Slavonian Grebe but very distant & pics are abysmal.

Found a Waxwing today - at Eastern Cemetery, Dundee. Except it wasnβt perched there when I raised camera to photograph the 2 Mistle Thrushes and I didnβt notice it until looking through photos later at home! Thankfully I found 1 on Saturday so not seeing this 1 wasnβt a big deal. #BirdingScotland
