Guess who has two thumbs and just officially signed paperwork to be a librarian again?

I used to just sit down with a blank document and whack out entire novels. Now I don’t even know where to start—or I start and stall out at around 10,000 words

Any tips for rebuilding atrophied writing skills? I stopped writing in 2019 (with the exception of one short story) and I’m just so overwhelmed because I’m starting from zero. I don’t know how to start again.

One day and 6 hours left to pick this up!

Current project: Emergency Contact WIP
Main character: Caroline, an awkward, anxious unpartnering aroace, who is going through some harrowing medical stuff with no family or nearby friends, so she hires an emergency contact on her city’s subreddit. Friendship hijinks ensue.

This is an online stitchalong event (crochet and knitting) where, to participate, you make a project using a for-pay pattern from one of our participating designers. It starts at 9pmET on November 21 (Friday!), and runs until the end of 2025.

I wrote 2,500 words. They were not good words. But they exist.

I had to have a procedure earlier this year that they WOULD NOT DO unless I had someone in the waiting room to release me to afterwards. And as a forever single arospec ace person that was kind of scary. My mom did it for me but what if she wasn’t here? And it made me think about it.

- awkward aroace puts out an ad for an emergency plus one for a medical procedure, meets the person who becomes their best friend
- introverted, exasperated aroace taking care of a supernatural book collection befriends a sassy ghost

If I DO try to write again tomorrow (I have written one (1) short story since 2019 so I’m…..nervous) which short story should I go for:
