Best I could come up with on short notice—

Bigger productions would ignore these automatically, but I felt compelled to respond. There’s a tech gap in the Philippines, and a cultural inertia. I didn’t want to lose actors on account of an easily solvable tech issue, or an attachment to go-see’s.

There’s always a well-meaning someone who gets the instructions wrong. There’s always an agent or parent attempting a shotgun approach to getting their kids into the acting world: spam every casting call with headshots & video reels. I have mixed feelings about them.

There’s always a chance you won’t get takers. It’s why the casting call should have an adequate duration. How long is that? Depends. I used Xittbird, my personal Facebook and a casting call FB group. There was buzz, but how much buzz do you need? Enough to fill out the cast.

The casting call I put up on Xittbird and Facebook will be ending in a few days. It’s been instructive. There have been good auditions. But seeing as there’s been little feedback about the call itself, I am half-guessing at the value of the insights I’ve picked up.
