I trust that Trump’s snub to Medvedev is something the latter really craved. Usually, only Ukrainian and other Eastern European media bother with Medvedev’s attention-seeking rants, but now he’s probably celebrating Trump’s snub more than he ever enjoyed a single moment of his own puppet presidency.

You cannot discontinue the OSCE; it is irreplaceable. Because it is a memorial — a memorial to an era now gone forever.

With Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán amplifying the incident and historical parallels to Russian-linked provocations, the attack appears tailored for both Hungary's domestic audience and the MAGA movement in the US. 2/3

While it is too early to say, the defence cooperation among these three major West European nations may mark the beginning of a new format of geopolitical Europe that may eventually replace the withering EU whose international marginalisation is too embarrassing to observe. 2/2

The signing of the mutual defence pact by the UK and Germany is a great development, further reinforced by the Anglo-French declaration of the Industrial Entente and the deepening of cooperation on nuclear deterrence. 1/2

Russia vis-à-vis Europe: Discredit, Divide, and If Needed, Invade Ukrainian blood buys Europe time - don't waste a single drop of it

The ultimate aim of the Kremlin with regard to the West in general, and Europe in particular, is to destroy NATO and the EU – blocs seen as symbols of permanent Western victory over Russia. shekhovtsov.substack.com/p/russia-vis...

I have reservations about NK’s agency in deciding where to send its troops. I suspect it's actually Russia that doesn't fully believe in the legality of its annexation of Ukraine's regions and is well aware of the consequences of deploying NK forces to European, i.e., Ukrainian, territory. 5/6

After all, North Korean troops have so far participated in the war only within Russia’s internationally recognised borders. 4/6

Lavrov always lies, of course, but one curious ambiguity here is that he seems to imply that North Korea – Russia’s most ardent ally – does not recognise Russian sovereignty over the Ukrainian regions that Moscow officially claims as its own. 3/6

Lavrov added that Moscow operates on the understanding that North Korea independently determines how the two countries implement their strategic partnership agreement. 2/6

Responding to a question on the deployment of North Korean troops beyond the Russian Kursk region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that it is up to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to decide how his country supports Russia in its war against Ukraine. 1/6

It’s just another trick, one of so many played by Russia that I can’t rationally explain why anyone still falls for them. 5/5

I have no doubt that Moscow made every effort to present the “approach” as something that might pique Washington’s interest – simply to buy time and postpone further US action against Russia. 4/5

What exactly this “approach” entails remains unclear. Rubio himself said he “wouldn’t characterise it as something that guarantees peace, but it’s a concept [he] will take back to the president today”. 3/5

This latest ploy is the so-called “new and different approach” allegedly proposed to Marco Rubio by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during their meeting in Malaysia earlier today. 2/5
