This Physicist Says We Don’t Take COVID Seriously Enough | The Tyee We downplay the virus at our peril, warns Yaneer Bar-Yam. And children are more at risk than we thought.

"...the big pandemic public health story,” says Bar-Yam, “has moved from proving COVID is airborne to building a public health system that acts like it.”

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

We need more at-home clinical trials for Long COVID. Here’s how we designed the largest one yet. - The Sick Times We are now recruiting for the Long COVID Treatment Trial-Tirzepatide (LoCITT-T), which participants can complete entirely from bed.

A new at home clinical trial for #LongCOVID launches today to test tirzepitide.

Co-lead @julialmv.bsky.social, argues in a new op-ed that decentralized trials will accelerate research and make clinical trials more accessible for people with Long COVID.

Beyond all reason Long COVID patients are constantly harangued about our requests for COVID safety. Yet what we're asking for is far less than what we're called on to do to survive.

People continue to call COVID advocates’ pleas for masking “unreasonable”.

Yet people who’ve already been disabled by COVID have no choice but to live with the “unreasonable” burdens of constant COVID safety.

Some ~500,000 peer-reviewed journal articles later, there’s simply no excuse to not protect the public, especially those who count on responsible adults to keep them safe.

Kids deserve better so we need to do better. Actions over excuses.

Going state by state for the 2nd week in a row to check on COVID-19, influenza, and RSV trends bc the shutdown is interrupting public reporting.

Not done yet as most data doesn't come out until tomorrow, but already seeing small signs of increase in RSV among ages 0-4.

Dr. Topol, the editorial irresponsibly dismissed masks & air cleaning, which added nothing to their aim.
Of course it's urgent to find treatments for LC, but it was absurd for them to reject reducing transmission. Plenty of evidence supports air cleaning and mask use.

Please mask up in public indoor spaces. Even if you stopped masking, it's worth resuming it until we have guaranteed healthy indoor air for all. You don't want to get even one more #COVID19 infection, as every infection makes it more likely you'll be affected by #LongCOVID, like Kelly has been.

This is what pharmacies and Sanofi both act like when you ask them if they have Novavax/Nuvaxovid available.

Remember:

1. If you’re calling or showing up to check for availability, especially in an area where Novavax has already been reported, politely ask them if they’re willing to check the fridge for stock.

2. If it’s not available yet, try again in a few days, even if they say they’re not expecting to receive any Novavax. Purchasing decisions at chain...

COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: If I’ve already had COVID-19 once, I’m immune from getting it again. Fact: There is no limit on how many times you can get COVID-19. Reinfection is common, and each new infection raises your risk of serious illness, organ damage, Long COVID, and more.
