Review: Fool: The Hilarious True Story of King Lear - Curtain Up! Review: Fool: The Hilarious True Story of King Lear | The Greeley Garage Sale Theatre | Greeley, CO | Curtain... Read More

I love well-written criticism, especially when it's a rave!! My adaptation of @theauthorguy.bsky.social's FOOL is a "sharp, quick-witted script...both smartly constructed and unabashedly fun."

I'll be at the final 2 shows this Saturday if anyone wants to join me!

Shakespeare's poetry, plots, and characters have inspired dozens of musicals, as well as comic songs and even special cameos. @austintichenor.bsky.social explores the musical theater that keeps us brushing up our Shakespeare: www.folger.edu/blogs/shakes...

It's why the original "This is Spinal Tap" works so well. The musicianship is exceptional.

How Mel Brooks Changed Comedy, One Nazi and Fart Joke at a Time 'Mel Brooks: The 99-Year-Old Man' looks back at the legacy of a comedic genius β€” and reminds you how dangerous and subversive the filmmaker truly was.

"[Young Frankenstein] taught several generations a key lesson in crafting genre send-ups: Get it as close to the source material as possible, and the friction between the familiar and the ridiculous nearly sells itself."
and
"We could use more of Brooks’ style of high and low (humor) right now."

Servers, cooks, clerks - ICE is coming to your town. Leave no drink unspit in, no food item undefiled. They're putting your coworkers in camps and murdering people in the streets.

Thank you for your service.

So @apple, ready to put ICEBLOCK back up on the app store? Or do you prefer the role of accessory to murder?

My family saw it on Christmas Day the year it came out and my very proper mother, who, like me, loved the book, declared loudly when the lights came up at the end, β€œStanley Kubrick’s a jerk!”

1st Christmas in 30 years with no kids in the house. Yet @daisytich still woke us up yesterday morning with a FaceTime call and @quincetagram checked in from his honeymoon on the other side of the world. Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to you and your family, wherever you/they are!

Losing loved ones at the holidays sucks. My Dad died 10yrs ago today and 2 days ago we lost Pat Finn, the funniest and kindest actor in the history of the biz. He and Dee Second City’d together and he was like family to all who knew him. Sending love to his actual family and his MANY friends.

I will say, however, that both films were dangerously overhyped and β€” even though I liked them β€” overrated.

The 'up to eleven' scene from Spinal Tap, but instead of a speaker Nigel Tufnel is talking about, it's the man with 6 fingers on one hand from The Princess Bride holding up both of his hands.

Time to bust out these classics again, to celebrate the early work of two legends, one miraculously still alive, the other taken from us tragically senselessly infuriatingly far too soon. #RobReiner #DickVanDyke #PhysicalMediaRules

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

You’re right, it wasn’t great casting. Nonetheless, I’m such a fan that since he skipped the Easter matinee I had tickets for in SF, I drove to Reno to see him later in the tour. It was great to see him on stage, but his understudy was better.

At the risk of being That Guy (who am I kidding? I am That Guy) after having played Richard Burbage in Lauren Gunderson’s BOOK OF WILL, I was thrown out of the movie HAMNET when I saw Shakespeare’s Hamlet was played, not by Burbage, but by the actual actor playing the role in the movie! Just me?

HAMNET opened yesterday and you should all see it. I shared my thoughts over @folger.edu, but suffice to say Jessie Buckley is a force of nature and I can’t wait to see it again.
