Like #Threshold or #Odyssey5 is the alien tech going to just do different things every week leading to massive scope creep the later writers won't be able to write stories around?
Move fast Debris but don't overegg what the alien tech does.
But wait this did get cancelled!

The settings are worked in well. It doesn't linger on stereotypes nor does it lag anywhere.
The emotional stuff of the A-plot is so-so but it tips along in a fast logical manner.
I liked seeing the ship getting rebuilt.
I liked the end credits- is that telling a back story?

Ok the 2 leads are my least favourite things in fiction and both characters have no filter or subtleties. I should hate this but you know what it's pretty good otherwise.
The premise feels new, moves fast, well scored, well directed, leaves the viewer to do some of the work.

The main guy is an Afghan vet.
A US military vet and a Brit. This show must really hate its audience.
It's 2021 so both characters merely blurt out their opposing points of view with zero subtlety.

First the bad: an English character in a US series for no f-n reason. It doesn't make your show feel global or make you seem cool. Rather as always a US show having an English lead character just make the creators look out of date and lazy. A show killer.

No this is a failure. I'd like to say it's a proto-version for better copies of thee same show ahead. But no it isn't as it just feels like another Canadian/US genre show that was half formed. Half dog.

Mia Kirshner isn't even in the final ep just her wolf self. She did nothing all season.
Lucas is a full time gaslighter that could only have been written by a boomer. His character is so unwanted.
And so is the show.
It just ends.

Some would say the lighting is already too bright!

Though I d like the lower lighting in the SB4 corridors and the missile run scenes.

Pringle did write 4 yet I wonder if waiting for The Malus to almost appear for 4 long eps would work. Certainly Hutchinson, Verney and other humans would have to step up to populate the longer run time. Just I'm not sure that they were designed to do so even in a longer version. I'm ok with 2 eps.

The show Enterprise started on this "unseen" war in S4. Basically the character of Trip Tucker in wider canon defines the war. He didn't die in the finale and was a secret agent in the war. It's more of a cold war to be fair.

Lou Diamond Phillips may as well have said "The show been cancelled already so go on and well tell me about the monsters I never met".

The Ruby-Tyler marriage story is so boring. Why is she being imprisoned in a bedroom with a giant window? They wasted Mia Kirshner.

An poor attempt to do Poe. John rents a haunted house. It's so unbelievably weak.
Meanwhile Sophia sees Lucas banging the skank. Lucas was also supposed to be the main character but he's just a rat. Why are we expected to care about him?

I'm in the crowd on The Bibi Baskin Show in 1992. The person in front of me in the crowd was being interviewed too (she's now the First Lady) so I got a fair few close ups. God forbid i ever see it again.

The politics of the Wolf clans is the only interesting thing in the show. To such an obvious extent every later Wolf and Vampire show will bass entire seasons on how their dynasties interact. But this show realised it way too late it isn't a cop show and what killed it.

The one bit that made me laugh was Blackstone saying he can't find a place for John in teh narrative. Good joke as John the main character has zero business being in the show now and is now an unnecessary side character.

So the quirky stuff is a hatchet job by toxic boomers who think they can be modern. So suddenly Blackstone is now a perv, the perps are incestuous brothers from the sticks, the deputy is now a slut.

Were this 1991 this show would compete with the likes of "Dark Shadows" or "Forever Knight" but it's 2001 and this show has nothing of the new wave of TV in its DNA. Just boomers trying to guess where it's all at. All the talent on screen can't save this half baked series.

The makers are aware that there is this massive discontinuity between the more serious show Leekley designed and the quirky re-design post the pilot. This ep bravely tries to bridge the two but really it can't be done. The show is done.

What's odd with this show is that the characters you think are going to be the main ones who are up front in all the publcity namely Ruby, John and Lucas barely feature in each ep.

I can see later werewolf show having similar lore but i can't forgive how poor the storytelling is. What does the church look like from the outside? Is it miles away from civilisation? The show has not conveyed to me that this hills community is in a separate locaton.

John investigating a crime scene is ok but I've no idea otherwise why he is in the show. It's all so filmsy and the mystical stuff is piffle.
We have a sudden marriage. Was that a twist or expected I dunno.

What is the point of Ruby? They've turned her into a Helena Bonham Carter lookalike as she is the centre of a gothic tragic romance.
Except she isn't as she's barely been in any ep. Hasn't mentioned John. She barely seems conflicted. John & her had zero chemistry anyway.

The reverse storyline of the Sheriff wanting his daughter to leave and not wishing her to stay didn't really work as we know nothing about Sophia or her aspirations before now. Ok she's a home bird now we get it.
The forest scenes with actual wolves are working well TBF.

So who killed Willard at the end? Well the show was cancelled after this ep so I'm unsure if the final 4 shown much later reveal the killer.
Had it been Miranda I'd love it. It would finally give John a role in the show were he to go bad. But who f'ing cares anyways?
