I’ve watched 8 of the John Carpenter movies on Criterion Channel so far this month—all rewatches. The dude, quite frankly, directs the hell out of motion pictures.

Going through the John Carpenters on Criterion Channel, and I’m reminded of his control of pacing. Score and editing in The Fog is great, but one upped in Prince of Darkness. The tension control through that pacing—it’s insane. Dude was/is a master.
