Being furious about the Super Bowl halftime show isn't a "half the country" thing, the NFL wouldn't have done it if it was. It's a "loud noisy minority who also vote in GOP primaries" thing, and our electoral system gives those people insanely more power than their actual numbers merit.

Don't Rock The Inbox A country music newsletter.

I know there are so many newsletters out there and so many worthy ones, but as @natalieweiner.bsky.social wrote this week, we want country music to stop being a punchline, to be better understood and to be worth understanding. I think it's a worthy mission.

In the past month alone Don't Rock the Inbox has done incisive commentary on country music in the age of ICE & Jelly Roll/the "alternative" halftime show, helped u think differently about Dierks Bentley, offered up tons of great new country music, shat on some bad stuff + more. You should subscribe.

A good thing you can do about this instead of dooming is Google “how to become a poll observer in [your town]”

oh yeah I love Kassi. she doesn't give a shit and I think fundamentally understands that the chances of a woman getting a hit on country radio is so small it's a better long term investment to just not be a total bootlicker
