My earliest memories are about semi-trauma & one funny thing π
At 3 I stepped on a nail in a railroad tie that went through my foot. We had to take the whole tie in the car to the hospital but I remember the doctor being funny & making me laugh.
Starting at 5 I had excruciating earaches for years.

Two cats are laying on a bed, with the solid black one in the front, and the brown tabby behind him. They are on light green sheets and there are multiple pillows on the bed.
I don't have any 'good news' to share right now unfortunately, but I can at least state that I know what you're going through and truly hope it gets better soon.
Here's two kitties in an attempt to give comfort during your bad day, as sometimes sharing the fur monsters is the best we can do π

Last winter I had a cozy/hygge weekend & watched: Bullitt, The Conversation, The French Connection, & Network.
Randomly picked these b/c I have a database of movies I've seen (thou not updated since 2015) & choose films I given 4 stars. Meant to also add The China Syndrome but ran out of time...

When I looked at this post I was surprised not to see Brazil on the list of top holders, so I did a little research and saw how much they had divested over the last year. Obviously I haven't been paying close enough attention to this metric, b/c I had no idea.

I understand your point π but aren't there around 100 (or a little less) species of whales (including dolphins) and over 500 species of sharks?
Personally, I wish there was more exposure to some of the lesser known species of both rather than all the attention on the most famous ones... π¦π

a meme of a cat using a laptop with the caption: "Nothing. Nothing at all... What are YOU wearing?"
A meme of a cat reclining on a sofa looking at a laptop with the caption: "That's right girl - chase that dot."
A meme of a cat looking out an apartment window, and seeing another cat on the balcony of the apartment next door, with the caption: "Evry dayz, 3 o clocz... Mebe one day I sez meow to her"
A meme of a cat and bird in a broken and destroyed cat carrier, with debris scattered all around, and the caption: "when ur from two different worlds but some sketchy shit has brought you together"
Well on the Valentines Day Saturday, I thought it was appropriate to post some of the 'sexy cat memes' I've saved over the years. Here's some cute ones... π½

Here are bird pics from a trip to Ecuador in December 2022. The picture of the Toucan are from near Lake Pilchicocha in the mountains, and the others are from the Galapagos Islands.
I don't know you're friend, but I wanted to pick some birds that were not common in her honor π

What a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to all involved. This must be so hard on the keepers and other zoo staff as well. So heartbreaking π
I know it will take time for the team to heal emotionally and I hope everyone has strong support from loved ones. π

I LOVE this movie!
And just a couple of weeks ago I was telling someone about it b/c they had never heard of it (even though they were in the right age group) and I was surprised. I told them they were missing out and how the ending is actually about hope :)

Post a tree you've photographed.
Vancouver, BC (one of my favorite places in the world) for US Thanksgiving weekend 2017.
I wish I had taken a better picture and captured the whole tree in its glory, yet I can't delete it b/c I love the color so much! π

Two cats - a brown tabby and a all black - are sleeping on a white blanket on the sofa and the tabby is half on the black cat. On the lower right-hand side of the frame is a portion of today's New Yorker crossword puzzle.
Today's New Yorker crossword and two cats sleeping half on-top of each other. Not a bad night Tuesday night on the sofa... π

1) Washington - Willow Goldfinch
2) No, I have never seen one in my neighborhood
2a) although the city bird of Seattle is the Great Blue Heron and there are ~ 70 active nests that are only about 1/2 mile from my apartment, so I see them daily

I saw this a couple of months ago at the Seattle Public Library & the director gave a talk afterward.
Really interesting doc & I could not have been more proud of the librarians featured. They really are brave & never should have had to deal w/ the threats & nonsense that they're facing everyday.

A picture of a page in a magazine, specifically the January 26 - February 8th issue of New York magazine, page 30. This article explains many of the terms used in the forwarded post.
I'm reading an article in last week's New York magazine called "Life on Peptides Feels Amazing" by Ezra Marcus that actually explains most of these terms!
I never would have understood what it was talking about if I hadn't read this post first and saw the terms in use. I kinda get it now π«

My condolences over the loss of your dad, and I wish you peace and comfort.
As for the cats: I did this once & used the closet method. I put the new guy in the walk-in closet w/ a litterbox, food & water.
After 2 days of serious 'pawzies' under the door, I knew it was time & all worked well. GL π

N/A Mimosas for game day!
I really like this sparkling wine from Odd Bird. I use it for mimosas, as well as various 'spritz' type drinks or just on its own.
I order it from Zero Proof for delivery or buy at the local N/A bottle shop: Cheeky & Dry on Phinney in Seattle.
