Seattle. Lover of animals, music, cooking, arts & culture, and statistics & economics. Trying to see as much of the world as possible while I'm still here.
That looks great!
15.02.2026 21:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I looked at this post I was surprised not to see Brazil on the list of top holders, so I did a little research and saw how much they had divested over the last year. Obviously I haven't been paying close enough attention to this metric, b/c I had no idea.
15.02.2026 20:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I understand your point π but aren't there around 100 (or a little less) species of whales (including dolphins) and over 500 species of sharks?
Personally, I wish there was more exposure to some of the lesser known species of both rather than all the attention on the most famous ones... π¦π
I know how heartbreaking this is, and hard it is to lose a member of the family π Marvin was very lucky to have you in his life as you were to have him. π
15.02.2026 16:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This piece of #wood was on the fireplace mantle in an AirBnB that I rented in Oslo. As soon as I saw it, I started calling it #NorwegianWood and multiple times during that stay listened to The Beatles "Rubber Soul" πΆ π

Great job! πͺ
14.02.2026 17:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0a meme of a cat using a laptop with the caption: "Nothing. Nothing at all... What are YOU wearing?"
A meme of a cat reclining on a sofa looking at a laptop with the caption: "That's right girl - chase that dot."
A meme of a cat looking out an apartment window, and seeing another cat on the balcony of the apartment next door, with the caption: "Evry dayz, 3 o clocz... Mebe one day I sez meow to her"
A meme of a cat and bird in a broken and destroyed cat carrier, with debris scattered all around, and the caption: "when ur from two different worlds but some sketchy shit has brought you together"
Well on the Valentines Day Saturday, I thought it was appropriate to post some of the 'sexy cat memes' I've saved over the years. Here's some cute ones... π½

Here are bird pics from a trip to Ecuador in December 2022. The picture of the Toucan are from near Lake Pilchicocha in the mountains, and the others are from the Galapagos Islands.
I don't know you're friend, but I wanted to pick some birds that were not common in her honor π
What a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to all involved. This must be so hard on the keepers and other zoo staff as well. So heartbreaking π
I know it will take time for the team to heal emotionally and I hope everyone has strong support from loved ones. π
1 - black liquorice.

13.02.2026 03:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@rosemarymosco.com I read your book on a flight from Boston to Seattle last week & laughed so much, that more than once, someone looked over to see what the fuss was about π
Of course I had to get a 2nd copy to send to some friends, b/c I'm keeping mine...
Absolutely hysterical and delightful π¦
I LOVE this movie!
And just a couple of weeks ago I was telling someone about it b/c they had never heard of it (even though they were in the right age group) and I was surprised. I told them they were missing out and how the ending is actually about hope :)
Post a tree you've photographed.
Vancouver, BC (one of my favorite places in the world) for US Thanksgiving weekend 2017.
I wish I had taken a better picture and captured the whole tree in its glory, yet I can't delete it b/c I love the color so much! π
Two cats - a brown tabby and a all black - are sleeping on a white blanket on the sofa and the tabby is half on the black cat. On the lower right-hand side of the frame is a portion of today's New Yorker crossword puzzle.
Today's New Yorker crossword and two cats sleeping half on-top of each other. Not a bad night Tuesday night on the sofa... π

Thank you for sharing this! I appreciate the communication, especially here on BlueSky.
I know this is a very hard problem to fix & there are so many competing opinions (and everyone is positive that theirs is 100% correct π) but I greatly appreciate you tackling it and making it a priority. TY.
1) Washington - Willow Goldfinch
2) No, I have never seen one in my neighborhood
2a) although the city bird of Seattle is the Great Blue Heron and there are ~ 70 active nests that are only about 1/2 mile from my apartment, so I see them daily
I saw this a couple of months ago at the Seattle Public Library & the director gave a talk afterward.
Really interesting doc & I could not have been more proud of the librarians featured. They really are brave & never should have had to deal w/ the threats & nonsense that they're facing everyday.
Oh, and I had zero idea what peptides were, which is why I'm reading this article in the first place...
10.02.2026 06:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A picture of a page in a magazine, specifically the January 26 - February 8th issue of New York magazine, page 30. This article explains many of the terms used in the forwarded post.
I'm reading an article in last week's New York magazine called "Life on Peptides Feels Amazing" by Ezra Marcus that actually explains most of these terms!
I never would have understood what it was talking about if I hadn't read this post first and saw the terms in use. I kinda get it now π«
My condolences over the loss of your dad, and I wish you peace and comfort.
As for the cats: I did this once & used the closet method. I put the new guy in the walk-in closet w/ a litterbox, food & water.
After 2 days of serious 'pawzies' under the door, I knew it was time & all worked well. GL π
N/A Mimosas for game day!
I really like this sparkling wine from Odd Bird. I use it for mimosas, as well as various 'spritz' type drinks or just on its own.
I order it from Zero Proof for delivery or buy at the local N/A bottle shop: Cheeky & Dry on Phinney in Seattle.

I'm reading into this picture that you want Seattle to win the superbowl π
08.02.2026 17:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was on the wait list for tickets to his last Seattle show a couple of months ago, but didn't make the cut.
He coming back (I think in May, but I don't remember exactly) and of course, it's already sold out. So now I'm again on the wait list for that one, and hoping 2 t's become available...π€
At first I wasn't sure, but by the end I was laughing so hard, the cat got up from my lap... π
07.02.2026 21:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.
"I'm not re-opening, and it's not quarter-end close, so book it next month."
(Way too often...)
Two cats, one a brown tabby and one all black, are curled up together on a cat tree in front of a window and with a long, pothos plant behind.
Happy Caturday from Aloysius and Bjorn who will turn 2 yo next month (the 15th - Ides of March), & are now fully grown.
I'm grateful they can still fit on the cat tree together, b/c I think they'd miss it if they couldn't. They love sleeping together, intertwined ππΈ

07.02.2026 04:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Today's baking project was Turtle Brownies from the Martha Stewart "Cookies" book.
I make this recipe often, but I've never been crazy about the 'brownie' base. I generally think it's just a turtle topping delivery system, but next time I'm going to make a better basic brownie.

Oh, and yes, I could smell it in my apartment when the windows were open and the wind was coming from that direction.
Drove me batshit insane...
