The Hubs aim to increase understanding of how to achieve the Net Zero transition whilst adapting to extreme heat and improving air quality in homes, schools, care facilities, hospitals and prisons, protecting health and tackling health inequalities.

Funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), each Hub will run for 5 years. I'll be part of the HEARTH and INHABIT leadership teams.

£42m funding to ensure health is central to net zero strategies Seven new transdisciplinary research hubs will explore ways to ensure the UK’s transition to net zero also protects and promotes physical and mental health.

📣 So excited to be involved, together with colleagues at the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, in 3 transdisciplinary Hubs aiming to realise the #health co-benefits of #NetZero!

The project will examine various residential settings, including retirement villages and social housing, to understand how people are affected by heat both indoors and outdoors.

ARCADE aims to assist decision-makers to protect vulnerable individuals in the UK in adapting to climate change within their homes, with a particular focus on older individuals and types of housing that have been less studied to date.

£15m investment in research to help UK prepare for climate change Researchers will work with business, industry and community bodies to develop long-term solutions to extreme weather and other effects of climate change.
