It's incredibly sad. I love Lampeter, been spending time there for past 15 years. It's awful for the town and region having it go. I hope some viable education option can use the space again one day.

07.12.2025 15:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It would definitely be a tragedy if it reopened now, after the uni in Lampeter has relocated. But please, ask the spirits!
07.12.2025 13:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'd see that production. My mother-in-law lives Llanybydder and I've spent many summers and Christmas holidays walking over the bridge that crosses the disused railway line.
07.12.2025 11:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very disappointed to share that I've pulled out of this event. I didn't feel comfortable going ahead given strike action by BL staff.
Asked about rescheduling, but was told this won't be possible.
Sad I won't get to celebrate this MS so central to my work, but this feels like the right way to go.

Thanks for making me aware of this, I didn't know until just now.
02.12.2025 15:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Working on my talk for this, next week. Please come if you are free, in London, and fancy a glass of wine with me at the BL.
02.12.2025 14:03 β π 8 π 4 π¬ 1 π 1Took my 4 year old to the National Gallery on his inset day and let him take pictures of all the paintings he loved. Perfect rainy morning β€οΈ
01.12.2025 12:37 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I never see my family at the actual holidays but this year they came early for a week. We did Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas in one weekend. Now I think I'm going to just sleep til spring.

17.11.2025 14:08 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Readers, it was delightful. Wonderful to hear BL manuscript curator Catherine Angerson introducing the talks as well.

Tuesday I had the great honour of giving the 2025 Antognazza lecture, the annual lecture of the British Society for the History of Philosophy. This took place in Newcastle, in the beautiful Phil and Lit library. My talk was on Mary Astell and her claim thatβ¦
Very excited to hear @devoney.bsky.social speak at the BL tonight, with a bit of fan girl excitement also reserved for Susannah Harker (Jane Bennett in the '95 P&P) β€οΈ
13.11.2025 11:08 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Ok. As a Romantic scholar, should I watch the new Frankenstein, or will it just make me mad?
12.11.2025 21:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Since becoming a parent of a school-aged child, this definitely feels more and more like the bad place. How will this help anyone?
12.11.2025 09:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Henry Tilney read the entirety of The Mysteries of Udolpho in only TWO DAYS! This is what phones have taken from us.
10.11.2025 18:13 β π 43 π 9 π¬ 6 π 0I love living in Sussex, but I do feel homesick for America, even with all of its (enormous/scary) problems. Spent morning listening to NPR between writing feedback for workshop tomorrow, & making minestrone. Love hearing the weather report from my hometown, thinking about everyone still sleeping.
07.11.2025 11:49 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What?!? Filmmaker Mira Nair is the new NYC mayor's mom? Like Monsoon Wedding, Mississippi Masala Mira Nair?? I already liked this situation but... wow. She is the ultimate babe. It all makes sense.
06.11.2025 20:06 β π 13 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I love that the Bluesky community exists and can help with things like this in the absence of the little blue bird site, which I sometimes miss.
(taken care of now, thank you!)
Can anyone access either of these sources for me? Looking to get the Intros as PDFs.

This is not actually a portrait of Equiano, it was wrongfully attributed. There's a lot of research on this out there.

13.10.2025 18:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am visiting the BL tomorrow for RESEARCH & to look at a MANUSCRIPT. After a year of maternity leave, then taking time to start a new business, this feels EXCITING (& worthy of caps).
Can anyone advise on the situation for ordering books/MS in reading rooms? Last visit, it was still paper slips.
