but it is pretty nerve-wracking to feel like I'm kicking up a fuss and making a big deal out of something when management are acting like it's not a big deal. but it is to me!

UCU is being incredibly helpful, it's my first time engaging with the union for a specific workplace issue I'm facing and the casework officer has been great

looks like I'm going to be taking a formal grievance out against my employer because HR have decided that my job isn't an academic one, after two years of being told it is πŸ™ƒ

sorting out the logistics of childcare and travelling to London with a four month old baby is a problem for July

Thank you!! We probably won't be in a position to properly start looking until next May/June at the earliest (baby arrives in March), but I'll def reach out then

This is good to know - the dark is one of my concerns! Not sure if my Lumie alarm clock would he quite enough

thanks, this is really helpful!! we're finding it pretty deadening down in Eastbourne without much going on and struggling to make friends, but can't face moving back to London - Edinburgh feels like it offers a great mix of culture/events/nature and I've liked it whenever I've been

maybe what it's like to make a big move (I think you were based in Oxford before, sorry if I'm wrong!) and how easy it is making new friends etc as that's what I'm most worried about

thank you! we've been looking at flats and houses and found some really gorgeous ones we like that are nicer and more spacious than what we were looking at before down South

Joe and I are seriously considering a big move to Edinburgh some time after we have the baby, seems like it fits pretty much everything we want out of a living location. Tips from anyone who has done this (@lilt.bsky.social?) much welcome

I am extremely excited to get Undaunted: Stalingrad, the far bigger legacy-style version of the game

sorry to say that Joe and I bought Undaunted: Normandy yesterday, a two-person tactical WWII board game, and now I am a man in his 60s called Trevor who loves wargaming

sometimes I get a sense of absolute vertigo as I consider how having a baby in March doesn't just mean having a baby but also having a child and a teenager and an adult

pretty sure I'm beginning to feel the baby move, and that's a thing

like...there really is a separate living being inside me, I guess

I've started looking into motherhood studies and thinking about how some of that work might connect with the Foucault that I really like

I've got a bunch of ideas around it, too, that I might try to turn into something more academically focused

starting to write something again feels really odd - I'd kind of given up on myself as a writer and now I'm 1500 words into something
