As far as I'm aware, we weren't consulted. I spent a disproportionate amount of my time dealing with students who were misusing AI last year, especially first years, and anticipate having to do so again this year. The message that this partnership with OpenAI sends to students is, umm, unhelpful.

IME: Few students use it to generate text. Those that do tend to be students that are struggling already, for various reasons, and often developed dependencies at school. Other students use it as a shortcut with difficult texts. Few admit to using it, but worst cases persist even when challenged.

Yes, though I hope without institutional encouragement coming over the heads of the people who, you know, actually teach them.
