It was 27lbs! (There were only 12 of us that year). Thanksgiving morning, my Grandmother prepped the turkey but it wouldn't fit in the oven. We ended up contacting the fire department and cooking it in their oven and took turns driving there to baste it.

My Dad was a small town pediatrician. He had a patient who had been really sick and whose family owned a turkey farm. We always ordered our turkey from there but this yr the parents were so grateful for his help, they put aside a "special turkey" for him...
