What an utter absurdity our Home Secretary has created -

Destroying British free speech, right to protest and with it undermining democracy.

It is not for the government to terrorise the public for political opinions they don’t want to hear.

We have to stop expecting politicians and media outlets to hold themselves accountable.

This isn’t just a communications failure. It is part of a wider project.

Climate denial, far-right authoritarianism and anti net zero politics are deeply interconnected.

That says everything. If behaviour like this wouldn’t be tolerated in a peacekeeping mission, how is it acceptable in a democratic city?

It points to something deeper, a culture where power is defended rather than questioned, and where accountability is treated as optional, not essential.

That principle, no duty to protect but power to harm, flips the idea of public service on its head.

It’s no wonder trust collapses when violence is justified but safety isn’t guaranteed.

I grew up in the UK on American cop shows. “Protect and serve” was what we were meant to believe. A young woman shot at point blank range outside her home. Reporters and bystanders too. I don’t know what goes through someone’s mind when they pull that trigger, but I know something is broken.

Jeez, this chart stopped me in my tracks and hit hard. I’ll be 50 next year, so nearly 75% of fossil fuel CO₂ emissions have taken place in my lifetime. My son is 20, and witnessed almost 40%.
