no, this is perfectly sane imo
depends on the supporters you're leaning on
are they volunteers and acolytes that echo the leader's words making them simple mouthpieces? or are they peers and neighbors which you trust and lend good faith understanding towards when taking their testimony?
but that's more of a 1-2% point swing (still meaningful), while what I'm pointing to up top is something like 5-15% points of voting against one's interests

fwiw, I think Harris's embrace of many of biden's policies did hurt her among a large group of voters that wanted things like Israel divestment/punishment and more generally progressive policy...
like, the biggest movement away from her were from demographics most helped by low-end wage and employment gains
in what sick, twisted way does it make sense for those groups to turn away from Democrats?
y'all are taking twitter beefs and slapping them onto an outcome you struggle to understand
most people don't go to a politician's supporters (or their respective campaign messaging) to get informed, because common wisdom tells us the bias and propensity to lie is too strong
we tend to follow channels of authority and, secondarily, our neighborly social groups to become informed
it's like, we have all these data points that show that the more generally well-informed people were in 2024, the more likely they were to vote Harris
and the takeaway everyone seems stuck on are a handful of twitter discourse circlejerks around using delivery apps being financially irresponsible
I wonder if those groups are underserved generally by mainstream news media and thus seek to supplement their "infotainment" with more easily gamed info sources in their respective markets

yea that's not how people, generally, work
I think the general scientific field benefits from it, but its purpose is to demonstrate capability and control
science gets a bunch of value out of ANY exploration right now, whether its in our backyard, under our waves, or in our orbit
it is a diplomatic endeavor and societal resource control yard stick
arguably one that shares the same general space as climate change mitigation, but lower stakes
you have to understand that fetterman was, generally, problematic but not horrific... UNTIL he had a stroke and went through recovery while sitting in one of the most powerful seats in the country that has negative empathy towards him
that's a powerful reactionary push for anyone, and he succumbed
as long as platner doesn't have a stroke, I don't think he'll be a "fetterman situation"
granted, there's plenty of sus and/or amateur things surrounding him, but he's far more likely to be a rank-and-file vote than some vindictive asshole constantly voting against the party

it's going to be one helluva crash out when they lose many upcoming elections, and they'll likely try to either trash whatever they can and/or dig into their positions when they eventually lose

if liberalism can be found within those minds of resistance of fascism, it is a coincidence, possibly bestowed by that very liberalism, but should not be taken for granted
