As unfamiliar as the years have made me, the only hateful face I have to meet is my own.

I hear you. Beyond being authentic, there is the struggle to be inclusive while not taking up someone else's space. I don't quite know my personal balance yet either.

100% agree. I think I've just seen too many horror movies that do it wrong, and I don't want to add to the problem. It's more of a confidence issue than anything.

I had this same issue with hand-to-hand combat. I put it off for multiple books before I really described a drawn-out fight.
