I have formative memories on the internet in the 2010s that are barely embodied! Funnily enough, I'm also a "can't sit still without fidgeting" kind of guy.

I think there's a natural parallel between "the average Chinese sucks at English but will become much more competent if they hang out with natives" and "the average 12-year-old is a dumbass but will mature if they hang out with adults".

It's really, really bad if your nation can't train the people who speak its language to take certain public-facing jobs AND can't train the qualified foreigners to fluency in the language.
