I speak as a retired agricultural scientist with land-grant universities and the USDA-ARS.

However agricultural research is particularly critical as increasing populations, water demands and decreasing land resources require steady innovations in crops, agronomic practices and ecosystem services to meet the country’s and world’s needs.

A profitable, productive, and sustainable domestic agricultural industry requires constant investments in research that is transferred to producers as well as students who may become the next generations of scientists. The same is true of other science agencies that are currently being decimated.
