It is more bad news than good news these days in the US. But thanks for all you do over there. Most of us are still hopeful for better days ahead. But until then, I'm afraid the Devil's Work Is Never Done,
29.08.2025 15:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I put out his 2006 LP, but he’s still making great music (I’ve been lucky enough to hear this album go from demos to final songs). Yep, @stephensimmons.bsky.social has Hunch out for preorder on digital and CD: stephensimmons.bandcamp.com/album/hunch

02.02.2025 04:56 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Going Round Again: If you've found yourself wishing you could listen to Ryan Adams without it being Ryan Adams recently, then burgeoning reissue wizards Unspun Heroes may well have your back. Committed to giving lesser known records their time in the spotlight via carefully orchestrated and lovingly rendered vinyl editions, the label haven't put a foot wrong so far. Next up, it's Stephen Simmons' 'Drink Ring Jesus' from 2006. This sparse collection of songs is instantly compelling;, the title track opens proceedings and profiles a warm, weary, aching voice that takes centre stage alongside a plucked acoustic and only minimal additional aspects for the record's duration. 'You Give Us' and 'Dante's Blues No.7' are particular highlights, melodic details, lyrical imagery and pinpoint phrasing elevating them just above the other fine moments on this LP. Guy Davie at Electric has delivered an exceptional vinyl cut, giving Simmons' vocals truly outstanding clarity in the soundstage. Your correspondent could truly feel the space of the room in which these songs had been recorded and Press On's near-silent disc ensures that this mastering can cut deep. In a sleevenote, the artist is thankful to Simon White at the label for dusting this album off and it seems only right to co-sign that one having now become acquainted with this very special record.
One last @matpringle.bsky.social print for the @stephensimmons.bsky.social Unspundle left. This is one of two that were almost sold but then weren't. Signed by Mat and Stephen. Comes with an album. On our Bandcamp.
Here's @justplayed.bsky.social's review, btw. To help with decision making.

mine seem to be attractive young women just reposting progressive links. I'm a fan of both of those things, of course, but these accounts seem to be fake.

29.01.2025 03:12 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It just seems bots here are like Twitter/X bad. Meta has bots, but fewer. I think the skybridge find your X contacts is part of the problem. Also, curious why Bluesky doesnt let you upload your contacts or search that way instead?
29.01.2025 03:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm all for a platform far away from the broligarchy, but the sheer number of bots on here so early is a bad sign. Outdoors, where I'm headed today, is the only way out of the Matrix it seems.
