And by the way: I have a number of older cousins (once, twice, and more removed) and close non-blood related family who are my “Tía’s and Tío’s”.

My wife’s 68 y/o sister (from NOLA and white) has two female housemates - they’ve all lived together (never married) for 40+ years. We all (me, my kids, and even our friends) refer to as “aunts”. This isn’t hard or unusual.
