Respect for Marriage Act

This act provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages.

In short, RFMA repealed DOMA and requires states and the Federal government to recognize all same sex and interracial marriages made in the US and its territories.

The [RFM] act allows the Department of Justice to bring a civil action and establishes a private right of action for violations.

The [RFM] act also replaces provisions that do not require states to recognize same-sex marriages from other states with provisions that prohibit the denial of full faith and credit or any right or claim relating to out-of-state marriages on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin.

Specifically, the act replaces provisions that define, for purposes of federal law, marriage as between a man and a woman and spouse as a person of the opposite sex with provisions that recognize any marriage between two individuals that is valid under state law.

Roe was never codified into law. Obergefell could be overturned, but RFM is now the law of the land. The Supreme Court cannot restore DOMA because Congress repealed.

Obergefell overturned DOMA. The Court could have reversed that, but the Respect for Marriage Act repealed it.

Therefore, there's no DOMA to restore. Beyond that, RFM requires states & Federal governments to respect your marriage.

This would be more effective than anything Trump is trying.

The end of ACA is the beginning of a national health care system. People are not going to accept, "roll over and die" as an option, which is what Trumpdon'tcare proposes.

I don't know how anyone could vote for Andrew Cuomo after 14 women plausibly accused him of sexual harassment. He even admitted that he'd been "inappropriate" and resigned in disgrace as Governor.

Where are the wealthy going to live? They don't live in NYC because of affordability. They live there for the business and social opportunities it affords. You cannot find that in any other US city. The closest would be LA or Chicago, and those are also deeply Democratic cities.
