I feel like we need a huge educational movement to teach the US public what journalism with integrity, standards, & process to ensure accuracy, accountability, & humanity looks like.

It is fucking insane that we had a decade of people complaining about the dangers of cancel culture, and now literally hundreds of thousands of people are being purged from government jobs for ideological reasons, but that is not cancel culture.

Never underestimate the value of a good developmental editor. All my best work has emerged thanks to feedback and criticism. Talking to other people and collaborating is how you reach interesting themes and design spaces, and figure out not only what you want to say, but how you want to say it

As an academic, I am doing this:

Uplift those whose research you admire. Diversify the academy.

Many ways to do this:

-Nominate for awards (did 2 yesterday)
-If you are in an academy, nominate to it (did 3 this month)
-cite them in a paper and/or talk

this rings anecdotally true to me. it's not even "if you build it, they will come." it's "if you just restore its funding to early-2000s levels, they will come."
