What is being done to trans youth in the UK is monstrous.

Most of us have no idea how bad it is inside ICE detention centers because they have kept it hidden. Then a truth teller shows up and says it plain.

Why are right wing outlets claiming Thomas Crooks was trans, and after they got that embarrassingly wrong in 2024? So the kernel here is: an anonymous "source" working with Tucker Carlson gives data to the NY Post; the NY Post column says that a DeviantArt profile using they/them pronouns is linked to Crooks; Breitbart and others quote that; Twitter/X turns it into a memeable line. Here's the thing. DeviantArt displays your pronouns as They/Them by default when you make a new profile. Many people either never see it, don't bother to change it, or just don't care. (An image showing the pronouns on a new DeviantArt profile) This is fully testable by making an account and seeing for yourself. Was Crooks a furry? Nope. The original NYP article making this claim never says Crook's supposed profile on there had furry content. It simply mentions that DeviantArt, overall, has a whole lot of furry art. Then the author absurdly uses that to jump to the conclusion he's a furry. smh Typical NYP article. Quote from the NYP article: "He described himself with the pronouns "they/them" on the platform DeviantArt, which is one of the biggest online hubs for "furry" art and the "furry" community. (A furry is someone who has an interest in anthropomorphized animal characters, often as a sexual fetish.)"

Are those DeviantArt accounts really his? We have: An anonymous source claiming these accounts are tied to Crooks' email. Devine repeats that claim in an opinion column; several partisan outlets echo it. (Sott.net) As of now, there's no public law-enforcement confirmation that: "epicmicrowave" / "theepicmicrowave" are definitively his, or FBI has verified that pronoun setting as meaningful identity data. So: the DeviantArt link is currently media-sourced, not independently verified. What does having they/them pronouns mean on DeviantArt? Many users use they/them there for reasons that are: privacy ("don't want to share gender") vibes / aesthetic default / never bothered to change or actual nonbinary identity A DA forum thread even discusses how common they/them is and notes it's not always about gender identity. (DeviantArt) It's not like DeviantArt is a clinical gender identity registry. It's an art site with a 3-option dropdown and a "don't show" toggle. So treating "they/them on DeviantArt" as: "This proves the shooter was nonbinary/trans and validates an entire ideology" is technologically clueless and sociologically dishonest.

The bigger context: he was already being falsely labeled as trans Right after the 2024 shooting, far-right accounts circulated a photo of a random trans woman (Rose) and claimed she was Crooks. Reuters, AAP, and PolitiFact all debunked it and emphasized there was no evidence Crooks was transgender. (Reuters) What was his real motive? So we have: politically motivated media + anonymous source → interpretation, not a neutral, evidentiary report from investigators. Crooks appears to have left a long, visible trail of radicalization and violent fantasies on YouTube and other platforms: 2019: strongly pro-Trump, violent rhetoric against Democrats and immigrants. 2020: flips to anti-Trump, criticizes Trump supporters as a cult, attacks his COVID response, and advocates terrorism-style attacks as a way to fight the government. (Sott.net) One PayPal account used the alias "Rod Swanson" (the real name of a retired FBI agent who denies any connection). (Sott.net) There is still no clear publicly confirmed motive; the FBI says the investigation found he acted alone and planned the attack, but they have not tied it to a specific ideology, let alone to gender identity. (Federal Bureau of Investigation) This is not proof of some mythical "trans violence wave." None of this is about being trans. It's about radicalization + access to guns, which we already know are the actual patterns behind most political violence. So, of course, and intentionally: Right-wing outlets and influencers stripped the nuance and amplified: "Crooks went by 'they/them' on DeviantArt, had furry fetish, disturbing trans fantasies." (The Post Millennial) Social posts rephrased this as: "BREAKING: Trump shooter used they/them pronouns – NYP" Dangerously putting innocent trans people in harms way.

MAGA is fabricating a story that Trump's shooter, Thomas Crooks, was trans and a furry. They know how this puts innocent people in harm's way, but they don't care if it means scoring political points. Shameful. I pulled the full story together: what’s true & what’s baloney.
