Last week Linda & Johannes from @gfz.bsky.social visited to scan the forest around the @icos-ri.eu EC flux mast with a LIDAR drone. All went well, so they scanned the young stand at the @lufluxes.bsky.social EC mast too.

And here is a short video. The campaign is part of a larger project that includes above and below canopy scans at various @icos-ri.eu Ecosystem sites. The terrestrial laser scans were done by @geikedesloover.bsky.social earlier this year. Read more in our previous repost from ICOS.

Geike De Sloover @geikedesloover.bsky.social uses terrestrial laser scanning at ICOS Ecosystem sites to measure forest biomass🌲🌳

Scanning forests rather than cutting and weighing trees opens the potential for long-term time series of forest biomass.

And that’s a wrap on @esa.int #LPS25! 🌎

My first conference: great experience, great people, great conversations.

Presented my poster on Friday & left with so many new ideas and connections.

Big thanks to everyone who made it happen! 🌳

Had a great first day at #LPS25! 🌍

Inspiring to see so many brilliant scientists at work, and especially incredible women leading the way during the opening session.

The first glimpse of the #EEBIOMASS results was an amazing surprise.

Excited for what’s to come the rest of the week!
