So EHRC want to ban trans people from single sex changing rooms. Pls tell how that is to be policed- do we all have to have our genitals inspected? How is that protecting women's rights?

Brown call for gambling levy 'just a start' - Green Party Responding to former Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s call for a gambling industry levy to fund tackling child poverty, Green Peer Natalie Bennett said: β€œHaving been at the heart of the New Labour govern...

I react to Gordon Brown in the Guardian today: pity he was at the centre of the government that unleashed the gambling monster, but taxation is not enough.

We cannot allow predatory firms to prey on individuals and communities

Is Britain’s Green Party too nice to emulate Reform UK? The party’s next leader will need to turn vibes into votes

"It's a good moment for the party to clarify that we're challenging an unpopular Labour government,” says Mr Polanski. β€œWe are not there to collaborate with them. We’re not there to be disappointed or concerned about them. We are there to replace them.”

Lisa Nandy, the UK culture secretary, claims that #PalestineAction "wishes harm on the British people."
That is simply false. It is yet another retrospective justification by this government for its unjustifiable ban on the group.

Putting money into private healthcare drains staff from the NHS and creates longer waiting lists at more expense. The cheapest, most efficient way to reduce waiting times is to invest in the NHS.
The NHS rolled out a vaccination programme for tens of millions of people. Scale is not an issue.

All UK governments since Thatcher have been part of the neoliberal cult…. and we wonder why poverty is a constant for many UK citizens. Neoliberalism can’t solve this - neoliberal capitalism is the cause. Universal Basic Income is essential to solve poverty.

Presumeably none of these American parasites drink beer or eat out. Clarkson's prog showed the terrible state of local pubs in the Cotswolds, dozens closed. And the local poor too impoverished by the rich driving up prices to afford it.
Would have been another approach to that story. πŸ™„

#TheCotswolds is a lovely part of the world, but having lived there for 12 yrs it is not always the rural idyll made out on #wato
There is a fair bit of poverty, often hidden.
Infrastructure can be very poor on villages. (We took more planes than local 🚌).
And there’s a lot of very β€œentitled” ppl.

I thought there was a rural housing crisis, so why is #wato celebrating rich Amercians pricing out locals.

And now a cosy report on the rich and their playgrounds. Without irony after the report on poverty. Wot fun!

The economic reality is if poor people have extra money in their pockets they spend it in the economy, whereas the wealthy will squirrel and money away offshore. So raise the tax threshold and introduce a wealth tax.

What's the betting Reeves will freeze the tax threshold, thus hitting the lowest paid hardest. The progressive action would be a wealth tax but hey they are her donors so shielded from any tax increases.

You can intimidate asylum seekers outside hotels, you can gather and shout racist slogans and it’s called legitimate concerns. But don’t you dare protest about injustices or a decent world or you will be arrested and charged.
