If you want places to be accessible to older and disabled people installing benches is one very helpful thing to do.

Seems a few people are worried that young people will sit on a bench and be a bit annoying, so the bench won’t be installed after all.

I joined the Greens in June. Conference last weekend felt like a kind of homecoming. I’ve been adrift these last few years, mourning Alice, despairing at a ruling class that seems intents on heaping misery on all minorities. In the depths of grief hope wasn’t enough, but now it breaths life into me.

Back from the most energising conference ever, filled with hope and the excitement of being part of a rapidly growing party that is beautiful, brilliant, dangerous,

… and ready to seize this moment.

Courageous political leadership means telling an audience what they don't want to hear. Zack Polanski will never do that.

Or is it that I'm saying things the Telegraph doesn't want to hear?

I suggest they might want to avoid our Party Broadcast this evening!

Renationalise the railways.
Cheaper tickets and a more reliable service.
Railways run for the passengers not the shareholders.

Buying train tickets shouldn’t be this hard. Price them exactly the same each day all day/ route and people will magically organise themselves to travel when they need to + around rush hour if they can.

It is really not that hard unless it is a scheme to make money.

If you catch trains this thread about trying to buy a super off-peak single is very relatable.

Love @carlafrancome.bsky.social’s determination to get a flexible affordable ticket, but it shouldn’t be this hard.

Co-Deputy Leaders' Speech - Rachel Millward & Mothin Ali at Green Party Conference 2025 YouTube video by Green Party of England & Wales

My two stand-out highlights of Green Party conference were @rachelmillward.bsky.social and @mothinali.bsky.social's Deputy Leaders' speeches. Grounded, emotional, and inspiring.

Well worth watching in full:

As far as we know, the BBC didn't officially refused to interview @greenparty.org.uk leader @zackpolanski.bsky.social during conference - but leaving out our Jewish party leader in the week a terrorist murdered and terrorised Jewish people in his own city feels like a very deliberate editorial call

A speech about unity, community and cohesion.

About the 99% Vs the 1%.

I'm not surprised the Labour Party didn't quite get that....

I’m about a third of the way back in a big and very packed hall in Bournemouth, where Zack Polanski is giving his first conference speech as Green leader. So far he is being received rapturously. It’s some way from the quite polite joint speeches of recent years.

Cole: The definition of what is legal protest shifts and changes depending on who is protesting about what.

Sukaina: the ways powers are used to silence dissent would be laughable if not so scary.

Asad: far right - big business are bank rolling far right. Vision of hope to counter hatred

Now Cole Macdonald from Just Stop Oil arrested for spraying paint on private jets.

100s of JSO activists have been to prison. What comes next must be intersectional and inclusive.

Strong community bonds resist over-policing and racism.

Wherever there is resistance there is bravery.
