Freshly hatched copies of The Salt Oracle hardback and We Are All Ghosts In The Forest paperback on a green cloth, looking handsome
Close up of the base of both book spines, showing a tiny leaping orca on The Salt Oracle
The dedication page from The Salt Oracle, that reads: To Mr Short, My secondary school science teacher who told me, repeatedly, that girls weren't cut out for science. My PhD and I beg to differ.

It's time for another GOODREADS GIVEAWAY. Now through Halloween you can enter for a chance to win one of 25 paperback copies of THESE FAMILIAR WALLS! https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/enter_choose_address/419013-these-familiar-walls
In 1998, desperate loneliness pushes preteen Amber to ignore the misgivings of her family, particularly her younger sister, when she befriends the troubled new kid in the neighborhoodβa boy with dead eyes, a fascination with fire, and no remorse. Their turbulent relationship is brief but creates lasting consequences. Twenty-two years later, in 2020, he resurfaces to kill Amberβs parents, and is in turn betrayed by his accomplice and killed in Amber's childhood home. After the deaths, Amber inherits the house and, in an effort to save money, moves in with her husband and two children, hoping to reclaim some sense of stability in the grief and chaos surrounding her. Instead, she finds that the familiar walls are haunted by more than just bitter memories and lockdown stress. She shifts in and out of dreamlike trances, her reflection wonβt blink, and a menacing voice whispers to her from the gathering shadows. Although she tried to brush off the strange happenings as stress-fueled hallucinations, Amber is soon forced to admit that something much more realβand more dangerousβhaunts her family. But Amber has deadly secrets of her own, and she must resolve these long-buried truths or lose the life sheβs contrived for herself.
Good morning, friends!
Look, a giveaway!
Between now & Halloweeeeeeeeeeen (which is coming up way too soon, gosh I don't want October to end) you can enter for a chance to win a paperback ARC of my upcoming dual-timeline haunted house novel, THESE FAMILIAR WALLS!

AJ White always comes highly recommended - the trigger warnings on his work mean they're not something I can read, but I've never heard a bad word said. And Jamison Shae

hey I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but - if you're using Chrome and you don't want this gross little AI Mode button to pop up in your address bar, paste "chrome://flags" into your address bar and search the flags for "AI Mode." find "AI Mode Omnibox Entrypoint" then you can just disable it!

Publishers de-prioritizing children's books is just crappy, but it's also shortsighted financially:
1. Kidlit is recession-proof! Parents will always need to buy books for kids.
2. If you're not fostering the next generation of readers, then you won't have a consumer base 10-20 years from now.
I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.
Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.

Words cannot express how toxic and dangerous this approach from Labour is. As soon as we start saying people are only welcome if they "give more than they take" we demonise the disabled, those who do unpaid care work, anyone who isn't a 'productive member of society'.
