Why I found it awkward? Mainly in how they’re positioned. I didn’t even recognize the reference until someone pointed it out because Cloud isn’t as curled up as Tifa.

I hope they try to make them a little more symmetrical if they do it again, so it’s more clear.

The important bit is that they’re both wrong, but Jenova seizes the opportunity regardless. The mini Tifa is her “Shadow” of sorts, much like the Sephiroth on Cloud’s shoulder is his “Shadow”. It’s a part of themselves they will need to reconcile in the LSS

Highly recommend this whole thread, but want to pull this out specifically. I think the promise is a source of regret for both Tifa and Cloud for different reasons. Cloud for “failing” to keep it, and Tifa for not telling Cloud what she felt and getting him mixed up in Avalanche through it. 🔽

He enlists his servant Skirnir to go in his place. In exchange for this task, he gives the servant a sword and a mare to cross the ring of fire that surrounds Gerd’s home.
