The Wrongtom Meets The Ragga Twins band from left to right... Casper - sax Desta Zion - rhythm guitar Dave - guitar Flinty Badman - vocals Wrongtom - percussion/backing vocals Greg - bass Tom - keys Deman Rockers - vocals
Flinty Badman on the mic in front of the Tangled Woods crows at Boomtown. I think this was early evening on the Sunday and people looked pretty worse for wear. I remember a guy collapsing in the wet mud in front of the jeep which drove us to the stage. There was a lot of katamine going around, from what I recall
Having a touch of Boomtown FOMO so I've dug out these pics from 2014 when we did what I think was the first Wrongtom Meets The Ragga Twins set with the full backing band

Hope he can find time between filming all those church-funded tv movies

Mentioned it in the piece I wrote about Loaded earlier this year djmag.com/features/how...
A teenage Wrongtom before life broke him, and back when he had aspirations of becoming a filmmaker with his big clunky Ferguson Videostar camera which was outdated at the time, cost about £50 from a secondhand shop, took full size VHS tapes, and had a cool but useless negative effect. I loved that shirt
Somewhere on an old VHS tape is a video I made of a thunderstorm which we could see across the south of England. It's probably mainly darkness, but I hope it still exists.
Pretty sure this pic was taken on the ferry (might've been taken the year before. IOW was our usual "overseas" family holiday)
I was on holiday in the Isle Of Wight when these came out. I just had a vivid flashback of going to the loo in the cottage we'd rented in Cowes while Groove Is In The Heart was playing on the radio

05.08.2025 15:53 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Harry Belafonte appeared on almost all of his LP covers, including Calypso in '56 which was supposedly the first album to sell more than a million copies
05.08.2025 15:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Earlier than Ella though, I'm not sure. Think I have something with a pic of Chick Webb on the cover from the turn of the 40s. I think LP sleeves were introduced around 1938, and mostly for classical in the early years with fine art on the covers
05.08.2025 15:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0There's definitely late 40s pressings of Ella's debut with her pic on the cover. Interestingly it was the UK Decca release which didn't feature her. Plenty of black female artists appeared on covers between that and Young Gifted and Black. Here's Nina's debut from 59, and Maya Angelou from '56
