I actually don't think there's a better LP from any of their incarnations. That's not to say the others aren't amazing, just that the debut is untouchable

04.02.2026 18:02 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I spent a good while up to my neck in dance music documentaries, trying to work out what makes a genuinely decent one, and had a chat with the makers of Hyper: The Stevie Hyper D Story and Free Party: A Folk History in the process. Here's what I came up with for @djmag.com djmag.com/features/wha...

03.02.2026 14:44 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0One of the key factors in a lot of pioneering music careers, particularly in reggae, is the lack of sentimentality and a constant urge to move forwards. I was chatting to one of the architects of bhangra recently, and he'd just discovered his records are collectable, having recorded for 50 years

I interviewed Miss Pat from VP yesterday. When she heard I was in London, she asked if I knew her old friend Dawn. “Well, actually yes…”
Happy to be of service

Front row from L-R: Mary Quant, Alexander Plunkett-Greene, Kenneth Sweet. Second row from L to R: Jean Muir, Gerald McCarn, Kiki Byrne, David Sassoon. On the lamp post: Sally Tuffin, Marion Foale, James Wedge. On the horizon to the left is Fulham power station. Lots Road power station to the right.
Saw this photo yesterday of Swinging London's fashion cognoscenti including Mary Quant, Jean Muir, David Sassoon etc, but while this collective might be exciting for some, it was seeing Fulham power station where my dad used to work back then (a little while before this pic) which caught my eye
