Abuse isn’t enough, they have to silence kids too:

β€œThey threw away all my drawings,” said 15-year-old Cariexis Quintero… . Her mother, displaying a pile of colorful paper scraps, detailed how the guards β€œstormed into her room looking for drawings and letters” & then β€œdestroyed what they found”

I am working on an essay about the historical constitution, using birthright citizenship as an example, that I very much hope aligns with the @jgienapp.bsky.social school of thought. History matters for our law. Historical inquiry is valuable. Originalism is not.

Throughout his life, Rev. Jackson fought tirelessly for workers, both at home and around the world. At every turn, he reminded us that the fight for good jobs, living wages, and union rights is inseparable from the fight for justice and equality. May he rest in power.
