Some of us ran for Congress on a platform of abolishing ICE in 2018.

We were maligned, called “radical” and “fringe” — but really we were just the canaries in the coal mine.

And devastatingly, everything we warned about has come to bear, and more.

The hypocrisy is atrocious at best and pure evil at its worst.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Rep. Auchincloss is hosting a virtual town hall tonight to discuss "recent events regarding ICE" with a WestExec Advisors consultant whose clients include Palantir, and who authored a memo telling Democrats to stop saying "Abolish ICE."

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

At a time when ICE is rounding up 5-year-olds, terrorizing communities and killing American citizens, the last thing we should be doing is increasing its funding.

I will vote NO on the upcoming spending bill to fund Trump's domestic army.

Since 2002, thousands of ICE agents, border patrol, and the acting Deputy Director of ICE, have trained in Israel with Israeli police, military, and Shin Bet intelligence services. DHS established a special office in Tel Aviv in 2003 to institutionalize this relationship.

A reminder that Pam Bondi's deadline to release ALL the Epstein files was over a month ago.

She's defying Congress and violating federal law by withholding millions of documents.

She must release the files NOW and deliver the accountability and transparency survivors deserve.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

It is not a surprise that Democratic Leadership would discourage their caucus from offering amendments because their response ever since the President got sworn in is to write strongly worded letters that mean nothing.

Replace Democratic Leadership.

A lot of people in the establishment think Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is the future of the Democratic Party but she has proven time and again with her voting record that she is not. And her being on billionaire funded Majority Democrats does not improve her one bit.

A shutdown over ICE would put even more attention on ICE, which would only accelerate this trend.

And we are still waiting on the explanation on why you voted back in June to thank ICE!

The agents who killed a man in Minneapolis this morning will one day answer for what they did. The only question is whether the politicians will have the courage to demand it.

You abolish it. You defund the department that houses it. You hold every person responsible for its crimes accountable under the law.

This is not an agency that needs reform. This is not an agency that needs better training or body cameras or oversight boards. You do not reform an agency that shoots people in the street the day after millions of citizens peacefully ask them to stop.

A day after the largest labor action in a generation — a nationwide general strike calling for accountability — ICE responded by killing someone in the same state where workers had just stood up to them.

This morning, ICE's answer was to execute a man in broad daylight on a street in Minneapolis.

This is who they are. This is what they do.

Yesterday, millions of people across this country walked off their jobs, left their schools, and filled the streets to peacefully protest ICE's campaign of terror against immigrant communities.

The money we are sending to the Pentagon could be used to cancel student debt/make college free, make housing free, and serve future generations high quality education.

Two of the 7 Dems who voted with Republicans to triple Trump's ICE budget, Jared Golden and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, are members of the billionaire-funded Majority Democrats group.

These positions are irreconcilable, and he knows that. He's counting on voters not paying close enough attention to notice.

@repauchincloss.bsky.social cannot credibly argue that Trump is acting recklessly with military power while simultaneously voting to expand that power to over a trillion dollars a year. You cannot warn against "blood for oil" on Monday and then fund the machine that makes it possible on Tuesday.

Recent polling shows only 3% of Democratic voters support increasing military spending. There is almost no policy issue in American politics where the gap between voters and their representatives is this wide.

The House of Representatives just voted to push Trump's military budget past $1 trillion. 149 House Democrats voted for it — 70% of the caucus.

That's why what's happening here, in Minnesota, and in cities across the country is so important. When leadership won't lead, working people have to do it themselves. They walked off the job and into the streets to say that arresting children is not something we're willing to fund and tolerate.
