Yesterday, I celebrated my 5th re-birthday. I’ve survived 5 years post bone marrow transplant. My long-term surival odds have gone from a coin toss to a near certainty, and I am considered “cured” of my cancer.

It was a good day of reflection & cake. Looking forward to the next 5 years 🧡

Blue Origin has officially reached orbit on their first attempt!

Oof, understandable eyebrow sweat. Thankfully not that kind of rocket.

And yes, the SpaceX Falcon 9 first stage will be landing on their “Just Read the Instructions” drone ship. And Blue Origin will be attempting to land the first stage of New Glenn on their drone ship, “Jacklyn”.

Rockets are destroying my sleep schedule.

Tonight: Staying up to watch SpaceX launch Firefly’s Blue Ghost Lander to the Moon (Jan. 15 1:11 a.m. EST)

Tomorrow Night: Staying up AGAIN to watch the second attempt of New Glenn’s inaugural launch (Jan. 16 1:00 a.m. EST)

They are not stranded or stuck because their ride home is parked outside, ready to go home once their extended mission assignment is complete.

“They are still in space” is the simplest but leaves out important context.

When they didn’t return on Starliner, they formally became members of the expedition 71/72 crew living & working aboard the ISS. They will return, as planned, on a SpaceX Dragon Capsule that is already docked to the ISS.

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone except the people who continue to say Butch and Suni are “stranded” or “stuck” aboard the International Space Station (ISS). 🎄
