Sorry, but if you're saying those implausible and shallow Kemi Badenoch announcements constitute a good speech then you're part of the UK's political problem.

Same half-baked "tax cut good / international commitments bad" bearing no resemblance to well formed policy.

I didnโ€™t realise how much I loved my home town until a terrorist attacked it. I pray unity prevails there | Simon Hattenstone Last weekโ€™s attack on the synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, was also an assault on a model and diverse community, says Guardian features writer Simon Hattenstone

This is a so much more positive and uplifting take than the media and divisive politicians would let us believe.

The closer than the Tories get to Reform, the more it makes sense for Labour to leave them to it and head back towards the centre. Stop bashing immigrants 24/7 and concentrate on the important stuff.

Imagine being so morally bankrupt and lacking in vision that you look at what's happening in the US and think "I want some of that..."
Badenoch and the party she leads are deservedly heading for oblivion.

Not to make light of the editorial failure, but look how far Twitter lies now permeate in to normal discourse. We think we know about the racism but the utter contempt for truth since Musk bought the platform is deliberate & very dangerous. You canโ€™t foment racism with fact checkers in the building.

In the wake of the heinous terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue, I know many in Londonโ€™s Jewish community will be feeling afraid. My thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at this terrible time.

Places of worship should be sanctuaries and safe havens for all. No one should feel scared to attend their synagogue, church, mosque, gurdwara or temple.

As we head into the weekend, there will be increased police presence in and around synagogues across the capital.

Our Jewish communities must be able to live and worship free from the fear of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or violence. The fact they cannot do so is utterly unacceptable.

It is clear that there is much more to do to rid our society of the poison of antisemitism, and we must redouble our efforts to stamp out this vile hatred wherever it rears its ugly head.

Now, more than ever, Londoners from all communities must stand together, show allyship to our Jewish friends and neighbours, and be united in our rejection of hatred.

MAYOR OF LONDON, SADIQ KHAN

Donโ€™t bottle it Starmer.

There is tsunami of criticism from the right wing media and their fanboys and girls for what you said at conference.

Your speech gave us hope.

Expose Farage & his band of racists, xenophobes & fascist grifting Putin apologists.

The majority are behind that strategy.

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time โ€“ almost 200 years earlier than predicted โ€“ following the Mayorโ€™s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.

Nigel Farage's attendance record as an MEP was 748 out of 751, yet he turned up to vote AGAINST plans to tackle Russian disinformation. Now one of his MEPs has admitted taking bribes to spread Russian propaganda. Why is this not all over the media?

I wonder if this guy is related to "Boris Johnson" who introduced "voter id" as Prime Minister in 2023 ... off the back of some crazy US conspiracy theories ... and in the process, made digital ID pretty much inevitable.

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.

What's really odd about the government is it feels like they are still the opposition. Powerless. Get the BBC in and put a rocket up their arse. When Farage talks about immigration, do something on the economy. Make a lot of bloody noise. Use the power you have. It's all just a bit....meek.

It's been really encouraging to see Disney taking that (predicted) $20billion hit over the ABC/Kimmel farce. The BBC should be watching this. There are more people who are anti-Farage than pro, and their constant platforming of Reform may turn out to be very costly, unless they change tack very soon

Keir Starmer blasts Nigel Farage over 'unrealistic' plans that 'foster division' Keir Starmer's press secretary said Nigel Farage had no interest in fixing the problems gripping Britain with its proposals to scrap the main route to British citizenship for migrants

Reform is a (bad) mood and not a political party in the traditional sense.

Its followers don't care about facts. They care about their beliefs.

No amount of fact checking will work and their critics need to adjust to that.

You cannot defeat delusion with reason.
