As reported the Senate CR to fund the government is not a deal, it's a capitulation/betrayal by a handful of Senate Dems and Schumer. And after Tuesday's election sweep. Shameful.

& felt everything these other families are going through. Psychological terror is the perfect way to describe it... I'm lucky to be in New Mexico where our state is coming through for us, but it doesn't make the last few weeks any less anxiety-ridden
The whole GOP shutdown strategy is hoping that sheer force of propaganda can convince the public that things getting worse does not reflect badly on the people in charge of the government, and that hurting America more will get Democrats to acquiesce to the Trump admin hurting America in other ways.

11/7 USDA memo that told states to issue full benefits
SNAP update. Insane one. So USDA is now saying on a huge lag:
- issue partial payments using a bad-math formula;
- CLAW BACK full issuances that any state sent *properly* under last week's guidance;
- if you don't CLAW BACK benefits, we won't pay the federal share of SNAP administrative costs (??)
Beatings. Choking suspects until they confess. Shooting unarmed people.
On this weekβs @revealnews.org, reporters from @mississippitoday.org and @nytimes.com reveal the years-long reign of terror of a group of sheriffβs deputies in Rankin County, Mississippi.
And now, if you read the devastating piece about what Venezuelan deportees endured at the El Salvador torture prison, read what incarcerated U.S. citizens endure in Alabama prisons.
State prisons in the U.S. that are massive systems of human rights violations.

He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too badβthey were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:

09.11.2025 10:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0More broadly, officials across ICE say Noem and Lewandowski have directed them to use a $170 billion infusion of cash from Congress to launch splashy ideas that have proven ineffective or impractical. Among the examples some ICE officials have cited: A few weeks ago, the pair ordered ICE officials to buy 10 737 jets from Spirit Airlines that they said would be used to boost deportation flightsβ and for their own travel, according to people familiar with the matter. Some officials warned the pair that the effort would be prohibitively expensive compared with hiring more flight contractors, the people said.
Once the officials looked into the proposal, they learned that Spirit, which filed for bankruptcy for a second time in August, didn't own the planes. The planes also don't have engines, which would need to be purchased separately. The project has since been put on pause, though DHS recently purchased two Gulfstream jets for $200 million, according to Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee, who were notified by the department. A spokesperson for Spirit didn't respond to a request for comment.
