Agricultural pesticide exposure linked to childhood cancers, study says
High exposure to multiple pesticides may cause childhood cancers, especially brain and central nervous system tumors, a new study shows.
Researchers in Nebraska (which has the highest childhood cancer rates) report that a 10% β in pesticide mixtures was tied to significant β in some pediatric cancers:
- Brain and other CNS cancers β by 36%
- Leukemia β by 23%
- Overall pediatric cancer rates β by 30%
