Pretty much the entire rest of the garden is buried.
Some gnarly icicles hanging off a snow-covered roof.
January 27, 2026 π± Snow is still coming down, the roads are ice, schools are closed for the fourth time in a week, and the neighborβs roof could use more insulation.

There was another school closing last week, and we wouldnβt be surprised if thereβs yet another tomorrow.
January 12, 2026 π± Yesterday was the first moderate snowfall of this fall-winter. It actually felt strange to have snow on the ground but not be buried in it.
Most of the snow was gone by today. Hereβs the remnants of the rose mallow in the remnants of the snow.
Oh wow!
The crows are loud too, and eerie.
January 7, 2026 π± The snow melted, revealing an unholy amount of crow poop.
At least the garden gets fertilized?
Yes, a blanket of snow!

December 29, 2025 π± It was well above freezing yesterday.
We expected the temperature to drop overnight, but I did not expect to wake up to this.
A small remnant of snow covered in autumn leaves.
December 23, 2025 π± All that was left of the snow this morning.
We arenβt having a white Christmas, but I canβt claim to be deprived π
Weβre hogging all the snow, apologies.
16.12.2025 01:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A very triangular snowman. It has been dubbed the Snowcone. It has two stick arms and it had a face, but fresh snowfall covered it.
December 15, 2025 π± Local schools were delayed this morning due to inclement weather, for I think the fourth time this winter, and itβs technically not even winter yet.
Happy last week of fall, yβall βοΈβοΈβοΈ
December 10, 2025 π± This morning we got above freezing for the first time in a while, plus it rained, so it was an all-around soggy mess.
Hereβs the βRed Flameβ switchgrass in the thawing snow.
Iβm in northern Indiana.

November 24, 2025 π± Thereβs a new round of construction zone refugees in my garden.
We found this peony growing under an enormous baptisia. I hope it likes its new home where it will actually get some light.
November 18, 2025 π± Just a few straggling leaves remain on the purpleleaf sandcherry.

As the garden goes dormant for the winter, I will drop down to posting photos once a week. Daily garden photos will resume when the snowdrops emerge.

November 5, 2025 π± The sedge by the compost bin continues to thrive, and continues to bring me joy.

The sandcherry looks like it has magnificent fall color, but its leaves have been this red all along π
Chocolate mint sprouts next to a garden log with a bright white bracket mushroom. Thereβs a few green, yellow, and red fall leaves on the ground and a dry branch covered in fuzzy seeds.
October 30, 2025 π± A cozy corner of the garden. Mushroom log, bright red fallen leaves, fuzzy seeds, and some chocolate mint because why not.
The seeds are on a stem that the painters broke and left laying around. My best guess is frost aster, but none of my other frost aster is fuzzy like that.
Sorry to hear that.
I also have plants that just donβt seem to like it in my garden. Blue-eyed grass, for one.
October 29, 2025 π± Trumpet vine spilling over the top of the fence.
This side of the fence is deep shade. Trumpet vine likes full sun, so Iβm not sure why it has put this much growth into such a spot. But I donβt mind.
