Despite WotC's best efforts, D&D has failed to establish itself in Japan ever since.

I'd recently learned that WotC are responsible for D&D not being popular in Japan!

The Record of Lodoss War creators actually used D&D and wanted to make content that referenced its role in their story, but WotC refused to grant licensing rights... so the Lodoss War guys made their own TTRPG
