John Giorno’s experimental β€œDial-A-Poem” project goes online. The poet and artist’s 1969 project is now available on a new website featuring new material from poets and performers from around the world.

Dial-A-Poem is back.

American artist and poet John Giorno (1936-2019) introduced the service in 1969, inviting callers to dial a phone number and hear recorded readings of poems.

The renewed version combines early recordings w/ new contributions.

You Can't Do That on Television title card of a man's unsmiling face

Every time I see someone with one front half of their shirt tucked in, I think of a YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION episode. It's the one where the characters randomly start a style trend of wearing pants with one long leg & one short leg. Just as silly to me! #GenX #TVSky

Tonight's movie was more of a program of several short silent films, mostly about women being feral it was fantastic. And the lady from the project was super real with us about where we're at right now in this country and that was fantastic as well. (The realness, not the fascism, to be clear.

Good day to all those who celebrate Robert Mitchum's birthday! Here he is with the glorious Gloria Grahame in MACAO (1952), an oddball sorta-noir with a lot of snappy lines.
Nick: Ah, the lady of the loaded dice.
Margie: You're up early for a loser.
Nick: Can't make a dishonest dollar lying in bed.
