Kind of tempted to say Friday the 13th. But even though I love all the sequels, I think only big fans of slashers love the whole franchises. Many of them would be considered a miss by most people.

19.08.2025 18:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My answer is Scream. Totally fits the rules laid out in the thread. Has 6 canonical movies + a spin off MTV show that was actually pretty enjoyable.
It revived the basically dead slasher subgenre, introduced young audiences to the old classics and changed the whole genre.
The only miss was Scream 3
I'm behind on the stream, so it may be finished by now, but if anyone is interested, a lovely calico rescue is having babies today on the Kitten Academy YouTube channel. So far - as of an hour ago - there's a tuxedo and an orange with three more on the way if the X-ray was correct.
19.08.2025 16:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Look at the Zohran Mamdani campaign. He hit the streets and was friendly to Democratic voters. His campaign invited them to join him in improving the city and party. And it worked. A lot of liberals are hungry for change. There's never been a better time to recruit them. Why reject the opportunity?
19.08.2025 16:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pointing out that they're more effective at recruiting than the left is not giving grace. It's acknowledging the reality that you have to be nice to people if you want to recruit them. If the baddies can fake it, the ostensible goodies surely can too. Or better yet, be genuinely nice.
19.08.2025 16:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oh well. Some tried and it was hard. Best to just give up. That's definitely a recipe for success.
19.08.2025 15:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't know why it's hard for so many leftists to understand that a successful political movement requires recruitment and persuasion. It seems obvious to me, but so many treat leftism as an exclusive social club rather than a movement with goals towards better political outcomes.

19.08.2025 14:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Definitely feels like Cuomo expects to lose and is planning to leave the Democratic party so he can run for governor or senator as a Republican.
Watch him lose those primaries too.
Nazis shitting themselves to death would be so dang hilarious.

Not that I need more proof that this country hates women, but what more proof do you need than a hilarious movie that's positively stacked with incredible actresses (but few men) bombing?
So gorgeous!

You'd think by reading this that he's losing because he supports trans rights.
The reality is that he's still popular in NC and leading in the polls. So, how is his support for trans rights a liability?

Addams Family Values is one of the rare times that the sequel is better, and Joan Cusack is a huge part of why it's superior. That and an increase in Christina Ricci screen time.

I somehow missed that "Guns don't kill people. People kill people" needlepoint the first time I watched. Amazing.

No matter how big or small a role, Elijah Wood always nails it.

I wonder if any of those snobs who only like horror if it's "elevated" are good with this movie because Perkins is considered sufficiently prestigious but hate the Final Destination franchise for being stupid gorefests.
Because the kills are very similar. Just saying.
