There's a pair of Monster Hunter x Digimon vpets and the print on them looks cool as hell but all of the monsters in them are just straight up MH lads except for two franchise hybrids as the final evolutions, and I don't fuck with MH

I do genuinely believe that there's going to be a swing, not necessary to the left but at least to something resembling center when he dies, just because every entity and business currently tied in will either have to double down or play the "he made us do it" card

I would be more excited about this if TLS weren't being so scrappy about delays and lack of communication. And if they would pick better names for these lost trademarks.

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap

Cyber Sleuth was a very contained and character-focused game that, after a dramatic prologue, settled into a groove before building up the stakes. Time Stranger is a far more story-focused work that goes dramatically hard right from the beginning and never really takes a breath.

It's hard to know whether this is a game I'd recommend or not to non-fans because I'm already shoulder-deep but if you've ever enjoyed a previous Digimon game or if you're just curious about these damn diggy mons it's more than worth a grab.

This won't be a turn off for less dedicated fans as all the familiar faces are here, but there are some pretty major omissions. I won't list them here as that would probably count as a spoiler by omission.

It might sound less than generous to say this after pointing out that there were hundreds of Digimon in this game but my biggest complaint is that the roster has barely developed since Cyber Sleuth 10 years ago. The last 10 years have been pretty great for new Digimon!

Digimon games have always been somewhat back-track-y and grind-y, partly due to the nature of fitting hundreds of Digimon into plots that aren't exactly Shakespeare. And this one's not immune but it's better than most.

I played on the Balanced difficulty and it was indeed nicely balanced: bosses felt strategically tough but manageable without grinding.

AFAIK this is the first game since the PS2 era to not be initially designed for a handheld and it shows in terms of scope and visually. The environments and characters look fantastic, especially Digimon that have light up or fiery parts

Okay I finished Digimon Story: Time Stranger so here's some spoiler free thoughts!

I've said it before but the fact that Chromedome's noggin is a fashion designer goes tragically underutilized in canon (except for that one amazing Annual prose story)

My dermatologist: sorry, you're just one of the guys who surprisingly shows up in the final rush to give a dramatic speech and hold off an army of cannon fodder while someone more protagonistic deals with the boss.

I don't bring it up much because it ended over two decades ago but the original Peanuts comic is one of a my favourite things in the world and I'm in a real V-Pet mood 'cos of the current Digimon brainworm so yeah, when I see a Peanuts Tamagotchi in person I'll grab it.
