I was sat next to @darmato.bsky.social on the merch stall at @adventurex.bsky.social after his talk and witnessed him sign EVERYTHING and chat to EVERYONE for over THREE HOURS! I waited til everyone was done then got this shirt signed. The man is the coolest, kindest soul. ❤️

I felt really appreciated/loved the entire weekend, thanks to anyone who came up to say hi and talk to me about games (and Murder, She Wrote!!). Maybe next year @mattaukamp.bsky.social and I will do a “how much do my pants weigh?” panel.

Going to AdvX was a very positive thing for me. I didn’t take many photos because my BDD was flaring (if I took a photo with you, it was HARD. If I didn’t, it’s because I needed to take a break), but here’s one I took in my dagger pin and lanyard.

I don’t really do cons much anymore. Over the years my BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) has gotten so debilitating that it’s been hard to really put myself out there, but everyone was very kind. Maybe next year I will do an unhinged panel discussion on loose cranks.

I had a fantastic time at @adventurex.bsky.social this year - met up with people I’ve known forever, talked heavily about adventure games, met Guybrush Threepwood, sold some merch - easily the best con I’ve been to. To next year. :)

It also dried too quickly for me to add texture, so next time I wanna be conscious of keeping it wet.

So, the eyes were the main issues. They look good, but rodents have more side set eyes, so I could change the position, do the antlers a little different, shape the head more, etc. I learned a LOT doing it.

My sculpting instructor gets me. I struggle with failure and not being good at stuff right away, even if it’s “better than average” or if I am picking up stuff quickly. I kept bashing my Jackalope sculpture, wishing it were better, and my teacher asked, “Well how many have you made?” And I said -

This is “Slim” and he was a cat that lived on the streets and was very lonely for a long time, but was accepted into the forest by Lil Shrub and Woodkins and is now happy and enjoying nature.

Looked at my partner‘s Google Calendar to see what time he was at a gig today and noticed he marked down my parent’s passing dates so he’d remember.

Tutorial: “Good job! Now take a look at your finished product. What do you think?”
My finished product: ✨💩✨

Skull sculpting tutorial: “So you just start with a simple pinch pot, like this…”
Me: “Yep, yep. I’m with you. Pinch pot. Let’s go.”
Tutorial: “Now just complete the rest and you’re good. Here’s the finished product!: ✨💀✨”
Me: ”….what the fuck just happened.”

And you know I’m interested when I want to know their backstory.

If you are in a clay class with me and you make an animal/critter, I WILL ask you what his name is, and I will be DEAD SERIOUS about it.

I’ve played it! I appreciate it artistically but don’t enjoy it as an adventure game, I found it a bit difficult and tedious. But it’s certainly unique.
